Talking this has gotta be larry birds biggest fan

    Bird's felon-fan jailed 33 years

OKLAHOMA CITY—A man got a prison term longer than prosecutors and defence lawyers had agreed to — all because of Larry Bird.

Lawyers reached a plea agreement Tuesday for a 30-year term for a man accused of shooting with an intent to kill and robbery. But Eric James Torpy wanted his prison term to match Bird's NBA jersey, No. 33.

"He said if he was going to go down, he was going to go down in Larry Bird's jersey," judge Ray Elliott said this week. "We accommodated his request and he was just as happy as he could be.

"I've never seen anything like this in 26 years in the courthouse. But I know the DA is happy about it."

What a nut job. Three extra years in the clink just because you are Bird fan.

Guy is insane. He likely will never see all those years, but he will likely see more than he otherwise would of. Unreal, good find.

if all he wanted was an extra 3 years, all he had to do was hit the judge and earn that extra 3 years

Read it in the morning paper. Last sentence was: "And what if he were a Wayne Gretzky fan?"
