The announcers I'm listening to are saying that Nadal might still be hurt.

    Its over...

Down goes Rafa, Down goes Rafa, Down goes Rafa...

This much says more about how goofy consistent Federer is than anything else.

Fed has made it to the semis in something like 24 consecutive Grand Slams....Rafa loses on his best surface in the 4th round.

    Stunning.

Wow. This is the upset of a lifetime fellas. Soderling isn't anywhere close to Nadal's equal on clay. I'm 100% certain that Nadal had to be injured to lose this bad to a guy like Soderling at a place that Nadal owns. Well if Roger is ever going to win this thing, this is it. I really think Fernando Gonzalez might be the guy who benefits the most here. I thought he might make the semis. Has to beat Murray first, but if he does - he has a real shot. Wow.

if you watched the match you could easily see he wasn't injured, he played an opponent who played the match of his life and he was off. it was the perfect storm. no injury though.

19 in a row into the semis, but the next closest guy in history has only 10! if fed makes the french semis, his 20 times in a row into the grand slam semis will be exactly double what the next guy has. unheard of

Watching it now, it sure doesn't look like Nadal is injured. Nadal just went through Hewitt like he was paper in straight sets.

Soderling is just hammering the ball.

    Weird stat.
not weird if you follow every major nadal match like i do. he never has a lot of unforced errors, and forces his opponents into many. soderling was going for a lot of shots so had tons of errors, also had over 60 winners i think, nadal had low 30s in winners. the most telling stat was that nadal only broke twice, but was broken 5 times. nadal is a master at returning serve but could not solve soderling's serve today. also, soderling scored 27 of 35 approaches to net. the combination of strong serving which was paced and well placed, combined with high risk tennis of taking chances and coming to net, gave soderling the win. dont forget that in wimbledon 07 he took nadal to 5 sets and nadal took fed to 5 sets that yrs final so soderlng has given a strong nadal in 07 a run for his money.
