Very disappointing. I can't believe books are scared of this new law which does nothing in my eyes.

As long as places like:
Pinny
Cris
Bet Jam
WSEX
Mansion
Matchbook
Greek
5Dimes
still want our money, nothing will bother me.
Give me those 8 books or even 4 out of the 8 on that list, and the rest could all shut the doors and it wouldn't matter all that much to me.
As long as everyone gets paid, f\*\*k'em

I am telling you most books will not be operating to USA players. Everyone laughs at me, does a book owner want to go to jail?? I do not think so, the gov't is really going after this and that is why everyone pulling the plug.
No way Party Poker closes unless they know something

They could have some different impressions if they read the shareholder statement. "The Company" refers to L&G, the holding company for the sportsbooks. L&G will continue to trade as a gaming company for non-US sites and will probably use the funds earned from divestment to push into that market. Since it is a public company, they are obligated to cover all possibilities as they will need to get the best value for the brands for thir shareholders. If a CRIS was to offer double what is on the table, they would have to take it.Originally Posted by gummo

I heard BetGameday, which is part of the leisure group and essentially a clone of VIP will be breaking away from Leisure. Will they be as financially secure as VIP then?

Gameday would be included as would Mybookie and any of the smaller sites that came over with Nine.

They repeatedly send bonus offers to people (with name in heading) who were told that are not eligible for any bonus. The withdrawal ask of one guy dissapeared and then he got nonsense info, that he must meet some rollover that was many times ready. After that he got money in few mins, but it looks they try to stabilize cash flow at any costs. I hope I am wrong.

I'd say that they are still pretty safe still. As Bill said, this is shareholder induced. You can't really run a listed company which is possibly operating outside the law of one of the biggest countries in the world. They will no doubt sell their US customers to a privately operated enterprise with money available or just let the customers go - that would be unlikely since they would be essentially writing off a large propotion of their business worth. Since they've already revealed their hand, they are less likely to get the full worth for their customer base.Originally Posted by Seattle Slew

Their share price actually rose on this announcement which seems strange.
Here is the link to their interim results for anyone who wants to take a peep...

It's a young country, compared to Europe and Asia. US has all the bravado of youth, but lacks in wisdom. Plus the political system is in shambles, as in bought and paid for by corporate interests. (On the positive side, we don't have all the baggage of older cultures; although we are trying hard to catch up).Originally Posted by InSpades

Meanwhile, we are paying in red blood for our ignorance (Iraq, etc).

I couldn't agree more with the big picture that DH just gave us.
America is a teenager, with all the promise and passion and potential of youth, but questionable decision-making due to a lack of wisdom and experience.

What'll happen to my NFL future bets if they "close" their doors?

I am dumbfounded why anyone would have money at VIP owned sportsbooks. They publicly state winners are not welcomed. Losers only. If someone said to me the only way you can bet at our book is if you lose, and continue to lose, I would tell them to **** off.

Take them for all you can and leave. The most important issue with me is wether a book pays. I would say they are a top 5 book when it comes to security of funds. What is more important?

Had it not been for the youthful US... Europe would currently be referred to as Germany. Any of you wise asses who were unfortunate enough to be of a Non-Arian Bloodline probably wouldn't be here. As for Asia if you haven't ever run patrols inside a communist held North Korea or spent hours upon hours with South Korean ROKs then shut the hell up. If you haven't ever spent time in Egypt Israel Iraq or Afghanistan shut the hell up. If you haven't had a relative killed when a plane rode into her office at the pentagon shut the hell up. As far as the the dark forces you better get down on your pacifist ass knees and thank god if you have one that these dark forces keep peace in this land where you think everyone loves everyone.

I'd urge everyone to read the SBR Newswire concerning Leisure & Gaming PLC ... specifically this line:
VIP (SBR rating A+) and Nine (SBR rating B+) are expected to continue as is under private ownership.

SBR has confirmed with sources within VIP (SBR rating A+) that all North American facing business will carry on under a private ownership group. The management and staff are planned to remain the same.
