    Default Firefox question

Ok I'm new to Firefox having just switched due to all the positive recommendations on this site. I am used to having many open IE browsers that would "double" up at the bottom of the screen. How do I get the "many" tabs at the top of a Firefox browser to go to a second "row" of tabs. Right now I just keep openning more and more and they just get smaller and smaller. Very hard to keep them straight when they are small like that.

    Any help appreciated !

Try the Tab Mix Plus extension.

Once you have that installed, go to Options => Tab Mix Plus Options => Display => Tab Bar, where you'll find a number of tab bar customization options.

    Thanks Ganchrow! That worked great

2nd question. How do I rename the tabs similar to IE so they don't take up so much space?

This is the sole reason that JJ will not use Firefox. I must admit that I don't know the answer but only because I've never put any effort into finding out. I will defer to Onlooker, our resident Firefox expert, to come up with the goods on this one.

Well my next question will be how do I switch between the tabs similar to IE? Using IE I can hit Alt+Tab and quickly switch between browsers. That's a big one for me. I like the speed of Firefox but these little things are adding up.

Ok with some experimentation looks like the answer to this one is CTRL+TAB

Right click on the icon, the ones in the bar (not opened tabs), or under bookmarks (for tabs), and select 'properties'. Then change the name.

I'm not following you on this one. When I go to bookmarks and right click on the selected link. The "name" already has in it what I want to show up. For example; the Pinnacle link shows Pinnacle in the Name field but on the bar it shows http://www23.pinnacle....descr etc etc. way too much space wasted. I want it to say Pinnacle and that's it.

For the bar, don't go to bookmarks. Right click on the icon in the bar, go to properties, and change the name. Or leave it out completely if the icon already identifies the link. (forget what I said about bookmarks).

Ganchrow's link is the answer to that one. That's what I was asking in my 1st question. Works well.

When I click on the icon in the navigation bar I don't get the word "properties". I get Navigation toolbar, bookmark toolbar and customize as my options.

Very nice Ganch. Thanks, only problem I had was the progress meter in the tab, but was able to unclick that.

Still don't have the "properties" option show up.

I get New tab, reload tab, reload all tabs etc etc.

How come the "clear changes" button doesn't work in Pinnacle when using Firefox?

Properties should be all the way at the bottom of the row.

I tried that but it just changes the name of that one. Like if it's called tab links it changes the name of that to Pinnacle. Not the actual Pinnacle bar.

The changing of the tabs does not work with Firefox. I am a browser pro. Yes you can change the name but it does not hold when your browse within that link.

Maxthon does have the ability to have the tabs of your choice.

I would actually use firefox if I can have the tab Pinnacle stay Pinnacle all the time on the top anytime I load my tab bookmarks..

Go to Tools => Tab Mix Plus Options => Menu => Tab-Context Menu

Then make sure that "Rename Tab" is checked off.

Still, jj is indeed correct that the tab name will change when you browse elsewhere within that tab. If there is a workaround I'm not currently aware of it.

You can also hit CTRL + 1,2,3,etc...which ever tab number you want to go to.

I havent yet found a extension that lets you rename the tab to a custom name. But that will not make me not use the best browser out there to date.

I will add the extension that Ganch posted here in the Firefox Extension Thread I made.

Firefox still has way too many holes in it as far as accessing websites, IE has 100% full feature access and Firefox has about 80% full feature, that is a huge difference.

Wow do they make that hard to find? Thanks Ganchrow I got it to work.

Thanks Onlooker I got this to work too. I just wish they used Alt instead of Ctrl. In the beginning it's very confusing to use Alt to switch to the spreadsheet and Ctrl to switch between tabs in Firefox. It will take some time to make the switch in my head.
