Default Question for the hockey total bettors

I'm new to betting hockey totals but I've noticed this situation comes up alot.

Which is a better value, taking a total o6 +115 or o5.5-130? And is there some sort of conversion chart out there?

so didn't they change the rules in hockey to make the games more higher scoring?...

perty much did, only they call it "making it more appealing to fans" but, as a gambler i don't care about what the fans like to see. i care more about winning and making money in this sport and, i'm sure most of you guys feel the same way IMO

I wonder if the players are adapting though. I notice over the last 3 days scoring has taken a hit. Most books are U/O 6 or 6.5

    10/17:
    O6:0
    U6:4
    Push:0

    10/16:
    O6:1
    U6:3
    Push:0

    10/15:
    O6:2
    U6:6
    Push:3

    Total for 3 days:
    O6:3/19
    U6:13/19
    Push:3/19

I noticed this trend yesterday and took the under6 games and won them all.

i would have thought the books would have adjusted these totals earlier than they did.

well 4 days ago it was a scoring bloodbath. it probably evens out in the end and 3 days is not much of a statistic but I will go with it until he shoots back up.

these shootout sure don't help matters at all and, they really take away the puckline betting options for me. because, the vig is to outragous IMO

My guess is books have been winning at first when we were expecting a lot of goals but they've been losing lately when we realized that players were not taking full advantage of all those new rules.

    A few things to consider:
    - it takes a while to develop strong power play units
    - players need to get used to the no-red-line rule (how many defensemen skate over the blue line before making a pass)
    - most teams emphasize on defense (back checks, positioning) to counter the new rules
    - it's easier to play defense than offense

Despite all those low-scoring games, goals scoring avg have already increased to more than 7, mainly because of a few high-scoring games. And the avg will slowly increase through the year. But in the meantime, hitting the Under is more profitable.

O6 +115 has a better value imho than O5.5 -130. A 45-pt margin on half a point seems a little high. Plus, consider that the only pushes you would get are 4-2, 5-1 and 6-0, as 3-3 will result in 7 goals.

the shootout is the intersting part. you are basically nearly guarenteed 1 goal per game no matter what so it is like O5. However, scoring has taken a dip. I am gonna ride it out this week on the under and see how it takes me.

high scoring games tonight so far after 2 games(in the 3rd). Unless the goalies shut em down totally in the 3rd my theory will be short lived.

that sure doesn't help matter with the puck lines either. because, that vig is holding me back on these puck lines.

i know i've mentioned it before in a post i made but, i just hate having the puck lines option basicly taken away from me. because, of the vig factor.
