Blake Griffin hurt. Coach K asking for Anthony Davis to play.

    Ridiculous.

Kobe, please tell us all again how you believe this 2012 Olympic team, would beat the 92 dream team.

To be fair - Anthony Davis is an upgrade over Blake.

    Thought Davis was injured too?

Davis would get abused by the bigs in Europe anyway.

Coach K can just bring a bunch of Plumlee's with him....

All Griffin can do is dunk.

Can't hit a jumper to save his life, doesn't do anything special on defense.

Davis will work his ass off...Put forth MUCH MORE effort than Griffin...He'll help out Tyson on defensive end and he'll work his ass off on the offensive glass.

We've already gotten the best one...There will never be any better. Sure Griffin may look like he's dunking, but he woulda probably just threw that one through the rim, and not actually hung on it like VC!

    That will never be outdone.

They should of brought in another big man. Hibbert or Okafor come to mind. Okafor only because he played in 2006 fifa 's.

Funny how you all say he just dunks. Shows how much people just watch sports center. He averaged 20 ppg, that's a lot of dunking.

I completely agree. Griffin is known only for his dunking.

Davis > Griffin...they already have enough guys that can throw down the dunk on the team. The added defense will be a plus.

So did Kevin Love...Who would you rather have on the team Griffin or Love? Love is much more versatile than Griffin.

I'd rather have another guy that is known strictly for defense (tyson chandler)...We have plenty of people that can score 20 pts.

When we play spain, I'd much rather have Davis and Chandler in there guarding the Gasols than Griffin and Chandler or Love and Chandler...Although Lebron could probably guard Pau.

Just sayin....We have enough scorers on the team, I'd rather have another "big" guy to give Chandler a rest, although who knows how Davis would fair against some of the big fellas, since he's not nearly as proven as chandler at the Center position, but lets see what he's made of.

    Davis>Laettner

you don't measure a team by how good or bad their worst player is

Gates. Definitely would rather have love than griffin. But people were making the argument about griffin vs Davis.
But people watch to much espn and only see griffins highlight dunks and assume he only throws down monstrous dunks, which is untrue.

Well said - was going to post a similar response. Griffin is the most one dimensional player since Steve Kerr. Griffin can literally only dunk. He can't hit jumpers, he has no range, his defense is average - and his effort on the glass in the playoffs was an absolute joke.

Anthony Davis might not be as polished around the rim, but his defense will translate to the league.

Fact is he is average at every other spot in his game, he is an elite dunker, amazing athleticism to get there. Except, with all that athleticism he is an average defender and turned into a terrible rebounder in the postseason.

He is a one tool player. That one tool happens to make the most highlights.

Not gonna really argue much but I don't think people give griffin enough credit. He's much more than a dunker. He is an average defender, yes. But he's actually much better offensively than most give credit for. He can play with his back to the baskets now pretty well.

You don't score 20 a game soley on dunks. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and say Davis is a better options. Some one whose never been tested in the NBA before.

I agree...Griffin has a quick first step to blow by most slower PF's...But everything of his is right around the rim (what you expect from PF's Centers) but he's not very polished offensively.

Neither is Davis...But the thing about Davis and these Olympics are that the USA needs another solid defender down low to deal with the 7 footers. I'm not saying Davis is the answer, but he fills the need better than Griffin will. If Love didn't have an outside game, we wouldn't be seeing him in the Olympics...

Problem is he will need to be a center in these games, if given any PT. We seriously don't need scoring on this team, we have that in spades. We need high energy, hustle guys, willing to play D. I watched davis win a national title, and he didn't even need to score to dominate that game.

Everybody is going overboard on Blake Griffin. He is a top 20 player in the nba still and will only get better. The pf position is loaded and he is probably top five.

Davis was putting on a dunking clinic in the ass whoopin yesterday...Some nice alley-oops.

Guy still hasn't shown too much and it's unlikely he'll get any time coming up as they are using Lebron to play Center if Chandler isn't in there...Lebron and Carmelo seem to be able to guard most Centers/power forwards...We'll see when they play spain again with Marc Gasol playing this time around, they'll probably need Chandler or Davis in there.
