|
Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended 50 games starting today, The Times has learned.
The test result and suspension is expected to be announced later today. The Dodgers informed triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul this morning that he was being promoted to Los Angeles.

With the suspension taking effect with tonight's game at Dodger Stadium, Ramirez will not be eligible to return to the team until July 3.

You are correct, but I'm sure that the list would be much longer. That is why McGwire retired when he did, he knew. Sosa had to take a year off to kick the stuff and never did come back at 100%. I don't know why any of them would risk that. Oh yeah, $$$.

No surprise to me. I know we had a few guys here clinging to the idea that he was clean awhile back. Crazyl and Ryanxl were among them as I recall.
For a long time people wanted to believe that A-Rod would break the home run record and that would finally be clean.
But then he gets busted so they have to let go of that (while still clinging to the idea that he only did the steroids just the short period of time he admitted to).
But okay, that makes Manny is the greatest natural hitter of our era! The conversation then goes like this:
But why the hell would you assume he is clean?
Oh just look at his body.
