Can someone explain the sign and trade aspect to me? Wasn't he an unrestricted free agent? Why did the Lakers have to give up all those draft picks?

He will undoubtedly get booed and harassed now in his home country, and will hardly be welcome back. Decisions people make I guess.
Just to be absolutely clear, Nash not only refused to play for the Raptors, he was ready to pay about $3 million a season not to play for them. That should tell enough about the Raps.

has to deal with the amount of money they can give him, he can get more from a sign and trade then he can for la outright. also has something to do with the lakers trade exception i think, all of this salary cap bs will make you batty.

you are right, i just saw this, i duno how gordon could possibly prefer phoenix at this point, but it appears he has. its morphing into a 3 team deal with no getting picks via la and phoenix, gordon going to phoenix, nash to la.

yeah they did wonderful. there is usually three guys tops in a draft and the rest are pretty much useless. I doubt they get anywhere near those three guys with those shitty picks.

listen Kobe is not dumb. he knows he is getting old and he can not carry this team alone anymore. he is not going to be putting up 28+ shots a night. kobe has one of the highest basketball IQs in the game, he will let Nash do his thing and won't get in the way.

They will rebuild and they look like they are doing the right thing about the future.

In a way, it seems like that as long as Kobe Bryant is in LA, Phoenix can only go as far as La lets them.

This way, Phoenix may try to make a title run in a few years after Kobe retires.
