Default How Many WIndows Do You Keep Open?

I have about 8 usually, 3 books, a scoreboard, stat sit, sbr lines, 1 forum, maybe like a msn main page also.

I think it drains a pc havng many windows open, how the heck did we do it years ago just with one or two windows open.

Scoreboards take up lots of computer resources if java run as do places like tradesports.

It just seems no matter what type of computer you have something everyday slows down your computer.

I might cut down to like 3-4 windows open

Load up firefox and start using tabs. Set it up so that when you start the browser, it loads in all the sites you typically have open. This way you'll have one framework and a streamlined load.

Additionally, you might want to try something other than one of those laptops you bought in Louisville.

When you get your operation organized, give me a call. We'll go to the fair.

jj, you really need to improve on that setup!

I have a laptop, I only use for betting purposes, so I only have a few open windows on that one.

On my desk next to the laptop, I have a desktop where I run scoreboards, check forums, track lines and stuff like that. Additionally I run messenger services from that computer so it won't interrupt my betting.

On my bed table I have small laptop that I mainly use to check results of games and stuff when I am in bed trying to sleep or having a nice time with one of my girls.

I never liked firefox, not compatible with many websites, I run a 386, jacked up pc and still have trouble at times. It is older but jacked.

slasher you have a nice set up, I think you need two different pc's/laptops nowadays instead of the 2 monitor set up and the cost of a cheap new laptop is really not that much and will function fine with what we do.

Slasher I always dreamed of a girl on top of me riding me and a laptop on my chest looking at scores. I bet you do that slasher you nut.

How do you set that up isetcap? Is that a certain extension or is it in the options somewhere on firefox. I never really thought about doing that but it's a good idea.

Open Firefox
Tools...
Options...
select 'General'

In the 'Locations' box, type the websites you wish to load upon opening and separate them with a pipe symbol (|).

Example: www.sbrforum.com|www.pinbet.com

Let me know if you have any problems. As an alternative you can set up all your tabs the way you want them beforehand and then go to Tools, Options, General, and click on 'Use Current Pages' but I don't suggest this as the best way.

Works great! Thanks.

The new version of internet explorer has tabbed browsing, but I haven't experimented with it much.

Between 20 and 30. Firefox. Just main page has 15.

Sessionsaver is another great feature (mozilla). Gives you the last settings, even after a crash.

I do not understand how your computers do not slow up with all these windows open.

Those of you that use firefox, go to this thread (CLICK).
I use all the extensions on there, and I feel most are a must.

Hey JJ. IE Tab will take care of your sites that dont load correctly in Firefox. It will use the IE engine with in a tab.

Even with the new version of Internet Explorer, with tabs. You still have the issue of holes that viruses seem to find. Firefox is a much safer browser.

Thanks for touting Firefox Iset. I will always recommend that browser. Best out there, hands down.

I have really no lag at all and I have 5 main books typically open along with several other information pages open. The only time it slows down is if I have too many IM windows open.

FWIW I have 1 Internet Explorer window with 3 tabs open:

http://www.arbcruncher.com/betting_calculator.asp
https://www.sbrlines.com/flash.html
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ (has all my passwords and a/c balances)

2 Mozilla Firefox windows open, the first with the following tabs:

http://www.sbrforum.com/
http://forum.sbrforum.com/
http://www.sportsbookreview.com/
http://www.betbrain.com/

...the second window btw only has tabs open for the sportsbooks I’m currently using. FYI the Pinny, Betfair and Mansion tabs are always open.

Then I have my Virtual Private Network software (as Thailand blocks many of the URLs I need for trading), my arbitrage software, a free odds converter calculator (from http://www.bettinggenius.com/), a calculator (from http://www.moffsoft.com/ - for general number cruching) and finally a Windows notepad.

Altogether then, that would be 8 windows and at least 10 tabs always open.

Btw my computer is an Acer Aspire 5563WXMi notepad:
- Intel ® Core ® Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB)
- 100GB (5400rpm) SATA HDD

Make that 7 windows now instead of 8.

One of Ganchrow's postings today made me aware that I didn't in fact ever need an odds converter in the first place. Apparently ArbCruncher's Betting Calculator did this all the time (US and UK to Decimal)!

This is going to save many precious seconds on each and every calculation from now on. Thanks again Ganchrow!

Now that is cool! I think I'm all set up, just a matter of making myself get used to it. Thanks!
