    Clippers being Clippers

    CP3 turning down a 60 mil, 3 year contract.

Dude doesn't want to be a goddamn Clipper. Blake Griffin has to be really happy about this. He will be the main (see only) star of a Los Angeles professional basketball team.

    Have fun with lamar odom.

    Go get him, Kobe.

From espn. Paul would give up to much money in signing a extension

Paul's decision was a formality, as the star guard could re-sign for $48 million more after next season.

Paul will make $17.7 million next season, the final year of his current contract, and will wait until the end of the 2012-13 season to sign a max five-year, $108 million extension, according to the Times report.

Why sign that? When you can wait and see how the team does, and perhaps sign this:

Paul, who came to the Clippers in a trade before last season, can sign a five-year, $108-million extension with the team in July 2013.
    While making $17.7-million next season.

Paul, who will earn $17.7 million next season in the last year of his contract
    Smart move.

    Smart move.
The question is why offer that, considering the facts stated?

I could be wrong but I think this was the max they could offer?

You offer it b/c if CP3 was a conservative guy he would be thinking about his knees that have no cartilage in them given him trouble next year and effecting his future price tag.

Risk/reward. CP3 could have a Rose-like injury next year, in which case, he isn't getting that huge deal.
