Yanks need PITCHING!!!! Trade Speculation Thread....

Who are the Yanks gonna pay prospects through the nose for?

    Garza, Greinke, Maholm?

should the Phillies give up on 2012 and just sell off their pitching, to start the rebuild?

I'd love to see the Yanks trade for AJ Burnett and send prospects and MORE $ to the Pirates for AJ, Correria, Hanrahan, Bedard, and Juan Cruz for the entire yanks AA roster!!!! lol

Yeah.. Dempster has to get off DL first

but yeah can you imagine how much Theo is salivating???

you know he'll be able to package Soriano in there and NOT have to pay for half of his contract!!!!

Lots if teams need pitching and with an extra wild card team even more then usual. Yankees will do their usual lose in the playoffs.

lol right... Yankees are just losers. You sound bitter. I hate the Yankees myself, but a team that historically and recently has been at the top.

There are some quality pitchers out there to be had but do the Yanks have enough farm to get them?

yeah i've heard he is on the block....

the Bauer coming up thing is really a touchy issue with me.... because he got drafted after one of the Pirates top prospects (Gerrit Cole.. only 2 starts in AA) AND they were on the SAME fockinng college team!!!!!

    unreal

You are on something if you think that any team wants Maholm.

its a good question.... They were 13th in the Baseball American minor league system rankings... so yeah I think they still got some studs and prospects.

    they also have $$$$$

there are NOT many teams that are clear sellers.... that is why teams like the CUBS could really jump in here right now and make a killing....... IE get them to take on a big part of Soriano's contract and get someone like Brett Gardner (coming off DL) back

this isnt george steinbrenners yankees anymore. Hank and Hal gave full roster controll to Cashman. He isnt going to trade his top prospects unless he gets someone young and a few yrs away from free agency.
NO WAY in hell he would take on a Huge contract like soriano just to land garza. He doesnt have George breathing down his back panicking anymore. CCs out for a whole 2 weeks and pettitte doesnt need surgery. With their lineup they can get by with freddy garcia for 2 months give up The famous player to be named later for some other teams 5th starter. Anyways they have guys they could throw out there as a 5th starter.

Worse case scenario is they play sub .500 ball for 2 weeks with Garcia takin CCs spot and anybody takin pettittes. No reason to panick

AJ Burnett sure would like nice in a Yanks uniform now....

how was GM when the Yanks aquired Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady from the Pirates... was Georgie still alive? serious question i'm bad with timelines in recent history due to excessive drinking...

no he wouldn't. the only reason he's doing so well is the same reason greinke is killing it. they both can't handle big city pressure and getting eaten alive and scrutinized after every start.

how many big market teams including NYY wanted Greinke when he was in KC? all of them. he wanted no part of it due to his extreme anxiety.

    I hear ya....

its a decent bar room and sports radio call in discussion.

I'm just not sure desperate GM's feel the same way. neither do half the fan base right now I bet.

I bet they'd love to still have him. I mean they sure as hell are paying him alot of money to do what he is doing for ANOTHER team right now......

my point wasn't that I think he'll get traded back to the Yanks...as a Pirate fan that is an extreme pornographic fantasy of mine. I see .01% chance of it happening.

by the way...on a scale of 1-100 on anxiety issues what would you rate Zach and what would you rate AJ in your non-professional opinion

the sign moyer when the bluejays cut him.

moyer will be the oldest pitcher cut by teams in the AL east team in a season.

yeah most of the numbers can be spun alot of ways.

Maholm gave up 6 runs in his first two starts..... if I'm asking my scouts as a GM, i'm asking, how is he pitching LATELY and does he have a shot at giving us a shot to win day to day?

The guy has had 14 starts

he has given up MORE than 4 runs, 4 times
he has given up 4 runs, 3 times
he has given up 3 or LESS runs 7 times...

If I consider my offense, I think 3 runs given up or less 7 times we SHOULD win ALL of those, and go 5-2 in those 7
If I consider my offense, I think 4 runs given up 3 times we SHOULD win at least TWO of those... 2-1
If I consider my offense, I think 5 runs given up 1 time we SHOULD lose, but kinda coin flip 0-1
If I consider my offense, I think 6 runs given up 2 times we should lose both of those

add into the give up 3 or less stat.....
If I consider my offense, I think 0-1 runs given up 4 times we should win all four 4-0

add in his career, and that he is a lefty....

add in that there are only like 6 teams that are Selling right now, Maholm will be asked about

GM's and Scouts dig a bit deeper than looking at the guys overall ERA

bauer isn't the guy you wanted the pirates to draft. dylan bundy is.

cole has been really solid anyway. he is on track to be a really good big leaguer.

indeed... Cole has a good chance of Making it in the big leagues...

but way too early to prognosticate on whether or not EITHER Bundy or Cole will actually "make it" or who will be better...

    it ain't science

and what if they have anxiety and shit

George was still alive and cashman was gm but if i remember correctly they didnt give up much for them Marte was the best lefty reliever available and they needed a corner outfielder at the time and right hand bat off the bench. Nady actually did rather well til her got hurt again in ST (i think it was in ST).

I could be wrong for all i could remember they gave up their whole farmteam ( excessive drug use back then)

But if sabathias injury was at all serious then i think the yanks would scramble. But dont forget they started the season without pettitte and with garcia as the 5th starter. Ya they didnt know Pineda would be out for the yr but even when they found out they didnt panic. Thankgod Hughes and Nova are pitching great or else they def would be in trouble...

Greinke is in the high 80's to 90's, AJ is 70's-80's.

It's nice that the Pirates actually got a gift from the team that spends 5-6x more than them each year. After all the losing seasons, it's nice to see that the team is turning things around.

  31. #31

Pirates have gotten more than AJ as a gift from the Yanks

and AJ is a 10-20 point difference between Zach??? I guy that had to take a year off due to anxiety in KC? a guy that has to have professional help and medication?

maybe AJ is on Meds too, but i'm not sure if anyone here knows that as a fact...

I do think as an arm-chair analyst... that "mental make-up" is a huge consideration with players and pitchers in particular

  32. #32

def agree with you archie about mental make up with pitchers..

Dont get me wrong id love for the yanks to get garza or hammels or even dempster. I just dont see cashman pulling the trigger unless its for little to nothing. Alot of people dont realize the yankees are cutting payroll. I think it was cashman or maybe one of the steinbrenners that said it was going to be hard for them to keep granderson and cano. (we can thank Arods 300 mil for that one)
So they arent going to add unneccesary payroll.

I really wish burnett couldve pitched in new york though, the guy has filthy stuff. And Im Happy that hes been able to turn it around in Pitt. Pittsburgh is gonna have a really good team for years to come if even half of these prospects live up to their potential.
Hopefully the can sign the key guys to long term deals. I could def see them and Wash being favorites in the NL the next few yrs. Add in San fran if they can get some offense and the national league is going to be alot more exciting than the AL if you prefer great pitching defense and timely hitting like i do

yeah I wish I could be as optimistic about Pittsburgh as you.... but they are still quite a few question marks away from being a REAL contender and not just an NL central pretender...McCutch and McDonald are the only guys that have proven anything at the MLB level... and Mcdonald hasn't proven his recent success over any decent period of time.

I didn't know that about the Yankees and their new $ philosophy. We often don't know what is REALLY going on, on the other side of the fence.

It would be awesome to see Moyer go, Rockies->Orioles->Blue Jays-->Yanks all in one season!

NYY don't have to give up the farm if the price isn't right.

Garcia is hitting 95+ mph again, he's found his stuff, goes back into the rotation with...
    Nova
    Hughes
    Kuroda

Plus Adam Warren just got called up, and Russell Martin says he has three plus pitches, good command, and is major league ready.
They also have Manny Banuleos and Dellin Betances, not to mention the kid they got in the Pineda deal, Juan Campos.

Also, Sabathia's muscle pull is not serious, Girardi says if this was a September pennant race, he wouldn't even be DL'ed.
Pettite will be back in six weeks.

If they do make a trade, I want Wandy in pinstripes
