No reason to believe he couldnt be the next Duncan or Shaq.
I dont remember those guys from college, but I don't imagine they had more of an impact on a game then Anthony did this year.

When his offensive game catches up, he will a top big man for a LONG time.

  2. #37

Keep in mind he will end up on a horrible team with more than likely a horrible coach, so I'm sure that will hurt any development for his first three years until he is able to bail or get traded out of that situation. Then in year four we will see what kind of player he will turn out to be.

We will see how good Davis is when he actually plays players that are a lot bigger and stronger than him. I don't think he will be able to handle how physical the play is.

  7. #42

stop with the ratings nonsense. kid is a baller and he'll be a big deal for years to come

  8. #43

the reason he is a "cant miss" star, rook, once-in-a-whatever talent is because of his point guard skills. He flew under the radar because he was an average point guard in high school... until he grew 10" his jr-sr year.
He appears lanky, but has serious strength and power in his lower half. He has a quality mid range jump shot, runs the floor as well as a guard, yet is explosive and long and a terror on the defensive end.
I admit he has some overall growth and a lot to live up to, but he wasn't the sure fire #1 and added to the olympic roster because he is overrated. It certainly will be interesting to see how his career pans out, but the Camby comparisons are unfair to the kid. He has skills that Camby never had.

He has little PG skills, you make it sound like he is Magic Johnson.

Just cleans up trash around the hoop, some cheap alley-oops and a block here and there.

Gotta wait till he plays in the NBA......

a 6'11 PG? let him try dribbling down the court in the NBA, from end to end, he'll fukkin get ripped before halfcourt. This isn't that joke of a sport known as college basketball. It's the big leagues. 400 of the best players in the world. The most select sports league in history.

I didn't say he was a PG. I said he has PG skills. meaning, he can handle the ball, he can shoot from range, he isn't an awkward turnover machine.
You clearly didn't watch the kid play much.

How many of the best players in the world are on the US Men's Olympic roster? Funny he got on there.

  16. #51

MKG might have a better career than Davis. dont forget these MEN are like 19. MKG 6'7" 235 at 19?
yo, Orko, I lived in Lexington for 22 years. Graduated from Dunbar in 2000. where you at?

  17. #52

He is an ideal '4' that can dribble, shoot the midrange J, and catch any ally-oop thrown his way which is perfect in the pick and roll. On the defensive side he is long, and very athletic. He has the size of a 4 but has length to still play the five. He has a lot more to grow and once he gains 50 pounds he will be more of a force. The kid will be great and in todays game having a big that can run the court like he can is a huge asset. The hornets will be a legit playoff contender in 3 years.

A lot of the core guys there are in the top 10 in the world. USA always selects some good solid players, not necessarily stars, for the bench. I think they want to bring back that tradition of the 12th guy being the rookie.

When lebron first came to the NBA, I thought he was overrated, but look at him now...

  25. #60

Its a little early on saying anything about him. Its going to be awhile before we can see what he really has because he is on a crappy team and will be easy to lock down with nobody else on his team worth a crap.

Lebron had one hell of a rookie season. If Davis can average 15 and 10 and a few blocks his first year then maybe we are looking at a future superstar.

Don't forget Lebron was 6'8 240 pound PG when he came into the league. He has grown and put on 30 pounds of muscle since.

  30. #65

It's not true that good centers are coming to the NBA anymore, after Dwight and Bynum. There are young players who would develop to be real good.
Watch this to see how last year's rookie Enes Kanter is doing against Bynum:

You seem to be a major hater....I've read all your post on this thread. Anthony Davis was the best player in college basketball easily. He dominated the championship game and he didnt even score 10 points!!!....then he went on to gain valuable experience playign in the olympics....he may not be Shaq or whoever yall comparing him to be but hes a damn good player who has already shown in preseason NBA that he CAN AVERAGE 20 AND 10.
