Foreigners in the olympics for the United states

im sure alot will disagree just because i made the thread

But do you believe someone from lets say ethiopia then comes to the united states
to run for arkansas in 2010 be allowed to run for the united states

This track and field on nbc sports right now. The race going on has 2 american born i believe out of ten runners

Could really care less. Its not about winning a medal for a country, its about winning a medal for yourself.

I don't like it. As a track and field purist I think it is BS. I don't want the US to get a medal in the 1500 because some Kenyan decided to move to the US and get citizenship...

I was an All American a few times in college, and I think there were 3 of us U.S. born guys on the team one year out of 8 names. They have to go so far as to give a special distinction for the top 8 AMERICAN finishers in track and field. So you get some overlapping. I made the 'second team' a few times but was actually like 20 or 21st in one event one year but still around the 6th best AMERICAN finisher. This was back in the late 80s too when it wasnt completely saturated with foreigners and refugees and whatever other misfits colleges 'rented' to run for them.

You don't even have to be born in the country you represent anyways, so what's the difference? If my grandparents were born in Greece I could go and compete for them if I desired.

Hell, I think it's even easier than that to get onto a different countries team.

Could give a fuk less about the Olympics.

Only old ladies and filth watch anything other than Olympic basketball anyways.

This is a country of immigrants. Where do you draw they line to consider someone "American"? They have to be born here?
