Mayweather's asking for house arrest instead

"Lawyers for Floyd Mayweather Jr. say the undefeated champion boxer may never fight again if he's not released from the Las Vegas jail he entered earlier this month. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Mayweather's lawyers filed an emergency motion Monday asking that he serve the remainder of his three-month sentence under house arrest."

Twelve days into his three-month jail sentence on a domestic battery count, undefeated champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is asking to go home.

Or he contends he may never fight again.

An emergency motion obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal shows Mayweather's lawyers will ask Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa as early as today that the former Olympic bronze medal winner be allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence on house arrest.

The 35-year-old's physical conditioning is deteriorating under the stress of being jailed at the Clark County Detention Center, and he is being held in "inhumane conditions," lawyer Richard Wright said in the motion filed Monday.

I like the guy but I'm not sure if being confined to your mega mansion is really considered punishment.

Crying about doing 90 days makes him look like a bitch.

They'll probably grant the motion. Being confined to a cell 23 hrs a day - almost like being on death row?

He's served enough time in jail, plus he's done his community service and donated to charity. 12 days must feel like months under those circumstances. I'd be shocked if the judge doesn't let him do the rest under house arrest.

Regular guys don't cheat on their wives (he's admitted), condemn gays and spend time flip-flopping between gambling halls and "Congress" --- do they? He thinks the rest of us are too stupid to see through him, but hats off to you if you're willing to accept that he's found God now.

In all seriousness, neither fighter nor any of us are saints. Let's stop acting like we know what happened on such and such night and just hope these world-class athletes continue to entertain and win money for us for more years to come.

so cheating on your wife is worse than beating her up in your world?

then i guess newt gingrich should be serving a life sentence.

  20. #20

Exactly Lou....didn't we just see a former high school star released because a girl said she made something up?

Whats to stop a woman from making something up about a man that is known to have millions?

Floyd said he took a plea so he wouldn't have to drag his kids thru the courts

Ok well to be fair, it sounds like most of his problems are coming from being kept in isolation. He can't exercise, only has an hour out of his cell a day in which he can shower, use the phone, watch tv, cook hot food, etc... And he's been only eating bread, fruit and health bars that he buys from the jail shop instead of eating the regular jail food. So his calorie intake has gone from 3-4k a day down to 800.

This article at the LVRJ is much more indepth. After reading that I think they'll let him out. They have him in isolation because he's a celebrity but it could be harming him physically and mentally. That doesn't seem right.

A guy who is a professional fighter that beats a woman deserves longer than 12 days in jail.

Too bad he's isolated, but next time he decides to use his fists to make a woman understand him, he'll think about (maybe) his time in the cell.

Lou was just saying... You said he did enough time, he is still way short so uh no he didn't and him giving money to a charity has not a damn thing to do with it pal. So someone like Sandusky should catch a break cause he donates to charity and runs a little boys shelter

Lou seriously, do you only post now to come off as Mayweathers PR specialist? Do you have any realist ideas in your head? Anytime there is a Mayweather thread or someones brings him up, you are in there within 15-20 min. This guy can beat up women, burn money, and you would be behind him saying "its ok hes a good guy, moreso a great puncher."
