    Default Parlays and hedging question

I have a cousin who is starting to get involved. Predicitably, he did a parlay 6 on some NFL games today. He put something like $15/847

Not bad...except for the low probability of hitting.

    Anyway...his 6th game is Houston/Sea the Sunday night game....he has Houston +9.5

Now let's say he hits his first 5 that just leaves one game left. I told him at this point you'll want to "hedge" your bet so that you can guarantee yourself a profit.

Therefore, he'll need to get on SEA -9 (current line)...this way you won't have to sweat it out...as there is usually an hour between the lasts Sunday late afternoon game and the Sunday nighter.

Now, my question is how do books react to players who hedge. Is it allowed or should he make a hedge bet at a separate book?

    Thanks guys

i wouldnt think any book would have a problem with u hedging a parlay at the end. maybe some would have a problem with u hedging a straight bet, but not the good ones

I think bubba is right on, most books could care less, gives them more action this way. For thoughts on whether to hedge, Doug made very good post on hedging that can be found here:
