Why do people love to see you lose?
I recently had a big bet on a game, and my friend knew about it. It lost and he seemed kinda happy that I lost... And this is a good friend, a solid guy...

According to Freud, it has something to do with potty training or being traumatized when they saw their parents making the two-backed beast at an early age. Either that or that have no life of their own. I could be wrong.

its a part of life. get used to it. nobody wants anyone to be better than them or happy.. if they see you happy, it makes them pissed.. just like if you call up your buddy and tell him you won the 2 million lottery, you actually think he's going to be happy for you??
he'll be cursing like tomorrow and you will ruin his life forever.

Rich a few months ago I started a thread saying we shouldn't be so mean to eachother...
I got fvcking murdered in that thread. IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT, FVCKING LEAVE, etc etc.
I'm sure forumville (not just SBR) have lost many really good posters simply because they don't see the point in putting up with all of the hate and abuse. People don't want to get along. So it goes I guess.

notice how when you have a bad losing night and you come to sbr and you hear people saying they got killed tonight and they cant' win and they are broke, people in general are happy and it makes the losing much easier to take.
and when you had a big losing night and you see 3 guys come in here and say, 11-1 on the day, i cleaned up.. woohoooo, you just want to kill them.. this is how gamblers are.. gamblers are not nice people in general.. they only care about themselves and if they dont do good, they want all to do bad so they are not alone. it makes them feel better..

I dont get why anyone would feel anything from someone else winning or losing. Personally I could care less whether someone else wins or loses. Hell for that matter I dont even feel good or bad when I win or lose. Now if I had to make a choice, Id wish for everyone of you to always be a winner and always feel good! Trust me on this one, its always better to feel good and be positive than it is to spend your life being negative about yourself or another person,JMO.

answer this question and be honest here..you have a friend who you know.. he was broke and had a tough life, and just like that, he wins the 12 million lottery.. now has a lamborghini, broads everywhere, and 10's too.. big mansion now he has.. living the dream on vacation with 3 hot 10's all year long and quit his job and his having a great life..
are you happy for him? btw, he gave you zilcho.. are you still happy for him? of course not.. gamblers get jealous of other gamblers or people that do better than them..

This thread has made me reflect on just how seldom anyone knows about my bets. Other than Beat The Prick, maybe one bet in 500, someone would know about.
My friends would never be happy because I lost though.
Nor would I be happy to see my friends lose. I don't know how you end up with crappy friends like that.
It is a pretty straight-forward proposition for me. I enjoy it when people I don't like lose, but I am glad when people I like win.

Im a semi old guy, and doubt that at this point of my life Id be jealous of anyone. Its not that Id be happy or unhappy for the friend that won 12 million, but I havent shared my good fortune with any of my friends either, so I certainly wouldnt expect that from him or anyone else,JMO.
