While it was not my idea to have an NFL Draft contest, it was mine to make it five rounds deep. While this does make it more of a crap shoot, I think it will be more fun to try and cap, and will give the real football buffs a chance to show off their knowledge. Last year's only covered the 1st round (like most do), which essentially just becomes a who-can-copy-paste-the-best-mock-draft contest. This one is a little tougher .

How many people are going to get an exact match in rounds 3-5? Maybe two or three people and those will end up being the winners. Great contest. ;P

It is not for everyone, I can respect that. But there are plenty of mock drafts and prospect ratings out there that go 7 rounds deep, and plenty of educated guesses to be made for those that want to put in the work.

Most people can't even name 10 players in the draft.

Interesting idea but, on a sports betting message board, I honestly doubt more then a couple posters could even start to fill out a entry without alot help from secondary sources... I think I will probably end up passing on this one but best to all that attempt it...

Search "2009 mock draft seven rounds" in your favorite search engines, and you will find a few.
For those that want to put in extra work to try to gain an edge, they can. For those that don't really want to, it couldn't hurt to copy paste a mock draft and switch a few spots around.

Was just trying to mix it up with something unique and fun. Last year we had a ton of complaints about the draft contest and how it was too easy.
This gives us some reason to pay attention past the first round.

I like it. I do have one suggestion: Maybe still have the full round 1 picks as 1 points (32).
Also maybe in round 4+, if someone gets the position right, you still get 1 point.
Or maybe even:
Round 1 (1-32): 1point each correct player picked.
Round 2 (1-16): 2 points each
Round 2 (17-32): 3 points
Round 3 (1-32): 4points

By awarding more points in the later rounds, it becomes a crap shoot contest.
But don't mind me or the others who dont like the contest, we can just simply not play.
Having any kind of free contest is a good thing!

Sticking with 5 rounds.
I did change the rule though. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th round will all be graded equally, as opposed to the 4th and 5th being weighed out to be the best.

I'm considering submitting card which simply omits the 4th & 5th round. Once we get out of the top 100, why bother? We're talking about guys that weren't even at the combine or senior bowl at those numbers. Chances are they've had minimal contact with their respective teams, not to mention zero coverage in the media or whatever other source.
Who even follows day 2 anyway? The last few years, I hang it up after round 2 and I'm about as hardcore NFL fan as they come. I'll just check the paper the next day after around pick #60 or #70. It gets pretty random after that.

Please note the entry time is 3:00PM ET Saturday, NOT 4:00PM when the draft starts. All picks must be in an hour before then
