especially if it's the end of the game, the team always runs onto the field and doesn't kick the extra point...

The ball shall be put in play by the team that scored a six-point touchdown.
If a touchdown is scored during a down in which time in the
fourth period expires, the try is mandatory unless the team behind in
the score leaves the field of play.
So, as I interpret it, Penn State would have had to force Michigan to kick the extra point. It's not mandatory otherwise.

Didn't have any wagers on it but I was watching the game and waited for the convert. When I saw there was not going to be any, I thought to myself: "There must be some guys out there very upset". That is frustrating, to say the least.
