i've never bet basketball but love looking at stats and was wondering how to make my own lines, any help would be appreciated

Well there is so much turnover in personnel in the NBA I don't know how you would make lines from last years stats.
For betting I think the easiest thing you can take advantage of next year is look at the records as well as point diferentials for teams home/away, there are some teams that are actually better on the road, although the books and bettors seem to believe this is a fluke, so just bet on those teams on the road and against them at home and it will be profitable.
Overall home court is worth about 3 points, although when the spread is over 10 points it is worth less do to complacency and backups playing. Like if there is a mismatch, Miami may be favored over the Bobcats by 12 on the road but only 14 at home.
