obviously, I've found SBR to be the more reliable of the two...what bothered me about TOW is that they charge you to help try to collect money from scam books, whereas Bill doesn't...that says enough to me...

Pags nice points on charge vs no-charge. SBR is the way to go. I never sign up with a book without first checking them out with SBR. Within seconds I can; and I have told books calling me why I will not play with them. IE your SBR rating is a D- and you apparently have a problem paying out. The Sales Person always seems shocked that I have more info on his book than he does. Keep up the good work Bill Illusion and MudCat.

SBR has been around way longer. He has the best ratings in the world with no agendas.

TOW is new so we have to wait and see

Equal imo. Check both sites for ratings before playing with a book. Both have contacts. I've found that it's sometimes easier for SBR to help and sometimes easier for TOW.

Gambler7,

Its about 6 months theoffshorewire no longer charges for dispute assistance.

We maintained charges on collections concerning failed sports books since these kind of efforts often require travels, hiring of local attorneys and so on. However charges are on collected funds only (no upfront fee requested)

This is clearly explained in the dispute assistance page of the web site:

Quote:
For matters involving slow pay or bet-related issues, The Offshore Wire will assist players free of charge.

For matters involving no pay situations with no sports books no longer in operation The Offshore Wire will charge a variable fee to be agreed upfront on a case by case scenario. There is no charge for customer service and advertising-related claims.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity of clarifying this.

Any forum which helps players who were wronged should get an "atta boy". The more player advocates out there the better for us players. Both SBR and Tow should be commended for their efforts in helping players right wrongs.

Yeah I play at Betbbb because they told me that Heritagae backs the money. If TOW is rating a book on risk they got it wrong.

TOW,

funny though, 'cause I could have sworn before I got in contact with Bill regarding the whole wagerfree fiasco, I got an email from a guy over there saying there would be a fee...and I have a pretty good memory...maybe just make sure everyone is on the same page over there and update your website...

I've barely even glanced at TOW whereas checking SBR has been part of my morning routine for years.

So I guess that's my answer.

no response about charging people huh?...

"For matters involving no pay situations with sports books no longer in operation The Offshore Wire will charge a variable fee to be agreed upfront on a case by case scenario. There is no charge for customer service and advertising-related claims." from TOW's site

I'm not sure about TOW's policies on charging but as I said I like both sites.

If I go to Dozer and for some reason he can't help I'm going anywhere that I can to recoup money rightfully owed whether I have to give a % away for the help or not.
