In football obviously yes. Basketball not as much, the conference only had three really good teams. Yes, Kentucky was the best team in the country, there is no denying that. But with the exception of Florida and Vandy, the rest of the conference was nothing special.

Trojans will meet those expectations Sammy. I just hope my boys get to play an SEC team..........because that always goes well for the Trojans.

who have they played except auburn and arkansas?

  16. #16

They sure win a lot of titles, usually the best in college baseball too

  17. #17

    SEC fans are brain dead.

As an SEC alum, I can say that confidently. There was about 20 facebook statuses claiming the SEC was the best basketball conference this year. Fukkin idiots, they all are.

  18. #18

SEC fans are also the only conference to cast aside rivalry hatred in favor of conference supremacy... I can guarantee you Michigan fans loved the fact Ohio State choked on a big fat rooster the other night... all these UT fans around here were cheering on Kentucky just so they could say 'HEY, the SEC won it all.'

How does that mean anything good for the rest of the teams in the SEC who were 0-16 against Kentucky in the regular season?

  19. #19

In football they are. Other than that the playground is pretty even.

  20. #20

I swear SEC is over-rated to the max...there are tough schools to play in Pac-12/MW/WAC

SEC is not overrated in football and the Pac-12 should lose its "major" status in basketball.

"except auburn and arkansas"........ Two of the upper half football programs in the SEC and this guy wants to exclude them from the list. SEC programs don't want to "home and home" with USC....not since the Trojans went 4-0 against the SEC from 2002 - 2006........outscoring their SEC opponent by a combined score of............wait for it..........wait for it..............167-48.

SEC has strange recruiting rules in football. And well, what can be said about Calipari?

Can't hate. If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying, and more importantly you aren't winning.

    ...edit

    nvm

I actually remember you are not a fan from you crying in another thread about football.

yeah at the time i wouldn't have called auburn and arkansas the "upper half" of the sec. that just happened within the past 3-4 years.

Not only that, but I don't think USC "won" that game vs arkansas. Didn't they have to vacate every win for that 2005 season because they got busted for cheating and a lack of institutional control?

well vacating wins is different. but in no way is a 4-7 arkansas team considered the upper half of anything

blacker.......when USC went in to Auburn and shut them out.....23-0........Auburn was ranked between #5 and #7 in the nation.

don't get me wrong it was a good win, but the #6 ranking was a preseason rank. not a good indicator of how good a team actually was during the season.

and i wouldn't call a 2 team sample of what the sec has to offer a major strangle hold on a conference.

    Sheer dominance.....Football...Basketball...he ll even gymnastics.

I'm still pumped about Saban resigning to stay in Tuscaloosa last week. Just means MORE Crystal trophies to stay in the South

Lowest score EVER....big shocker its from the SEC. We pay better and the general population here is stupid too so you'll fit right in. Come play ball with us and you'll have some cash for next year in pro ball.
