But what happens now when it comes out that other teams were doing the same thing? All the coaches are gone for the year? This guy sets some seriously bad-ass precedents! I kinda like it though.

    What a newsday!!

NFL is ruling during NCAA's big month!!

Payton and the Saints lied to Goodell and the NFL during the investigation. I'm sure that didn't help his cause.

    exactly.

Also a good PR move (we care about player safety) regardless of what some here think.

begginning of the end for the commish

    Too harsh of a punishment

  7. #42

This makes no sense. Roger Goodel have really lost his mind with this.

I understand rivals hating the Saints but lets be realistic this is too damn much

  8. #43

If the players gave a shit about each other why would they try and hurt another player for a few bucks.

  9. #44

Dane was spot on in why Goodell was so tough.

Gives Payton plenty of free time to pop those vicodins he loves.

    No way.

I'm tired of games being disrupted with ticky-tack nonsense on protecting the QB, protecting the WR, etc.

If viewers have to put up with that nonsense than coaches shouldn't be actively violating the rules. Period.

Payton and Williams couldn't have been saying a bigger F YOU to the league and its viewers by doing that. If they had real balls they'd go after the players too - then the issue would be dead forever.

It's coming. They (the NFL) are waiting to hear back from the Player's Association before announcing individual player punishments.

How can you have a coach who isn't allowed to coach he's gotta be fired

The list of names to offer themselves for the job would be endless a playoff ready team with the single season passing record T qb

  13. #48

Saints got fukked for what has been going on since the beginning of the NFL

It isn't enough. How many games are ruined every week because of these patty cake rules? And now to find out the Saints were undermining it all by deliberately trying to hurt players?

  15. #50

Way too long suspension for letting grown men play football?

  16. #51

    Pickwinners ,

Bottom line yes Payton should be suspended but a year is too much. Sad part is the saints will still be a playoff team with Carmichael calling the plays. Sorry but this not your daddy Saints. Roster is deep and talented, we can take a few suspensions on the defensive side of the ball and still be a little better than the rest. If you don't believe, watch , time will tell.

I don't worry about the Saints too much as a Bears fan. If they meet in the playoffs, the Saints have zero chance in Chicago, the Bears have zero chance in New Orleans. Just depends on where the game is, lol.

    True!

  19. #54

    Also good news today!

My saints signed the best free agent defensive tackle today Bunkly from Denver!

  20. #55

This might be the dumbest shit the NFL has ever done.

  21. #56

Payton is much more of an offensive coach than defensive. DC should have been the only one to get a really harsh punishment

  22. #57

Not only the coach, NFL must ban the fuuking players too, who tries to harm somebody to end career, not only in NFL, but in other sports
    too.
    Good day for American sports.
What a shame they won the SB!!!!!

These players must be gone too. If you like the fight, to go boxing!

I thought it was a really tough suspension also. I would think that he could slap a suit on this one possibly. Who knows what he will do all of this time he will have also. I am sure he will do something else for a year I guess. It sure seems to be interesting to me of what he will do now since he cannot coach for the whole year now. That will be a tough pill to swallow without a doubt no matter what happens.

Should have put a bounty on Brees and the rest of that offense and watched how fast they become hypocrites.

Nothing I hate more than men playing sports without sportsmanship.

His consistency has been pretty impressive. Despite all the moaning from players, coaches, and fans, guy has stuck to his guns. You cheap shot someone or merely encourage it, count on Goodell coming for your Bentley money.

**** the Saints..and the constant running up of the score you demonstrated. Their SB is tarnished the way I see it.
