Mike Tyson would punch a hole in Ali chest in his prime

On another forum, someone said that Lennox Lewis had sparred with Tyson earlier in his career, by all accounts owning him, and was paid step aside money. I don't know if this is true, I searched for some information on it but couldn't find anything. And not much of a boxing or mma fan, I only watch footage for the purpose of researching to place bets.

I think Tyson might have beaten Ali. Frasier was a bit similar to Tyson, and Tyson had great reflexes and was dangerous, you can't rule him out. But I think there's various people who could beat Tyson, people good defensively inside like Holyfield showed that. I think tall people with a good jab like Vitali could beat him in his prime.

I honestly think Vitali might be one of the greatest of all time. George Foreman said the best fighter was Ali and the best boxer was Joe Louis. This might be true, but Louis never fought anyone with the physical assets of Vitali. He got Primo Carnera to drop his hands by attacking his body, and then took out his head, but Primo Carnera is not the same kind of fighter as Vitali. Prime George Foreman was pretty scary, but not convinced he could easily beat Vitali. He got dropped by Ron Lyle a couple of times, and Lyle wasn't very experienced.

When Ali dodged the draft, he wasn't actually acting on his own convictions. He was following direct instructions from the Nation of Islam. The Nation prohibited him from doing it, and I saw a documentary where a leader explained that Ali phoned him and said what do I do? He said tell them, 'No Vietcong every called me ******.' The interviewer asked the person what he thinks that Ali's famous words where actually given by him, and the leader was like, 'Yeah.'

I think the reasons Ali did that are misconstrued a lot of the time.

Ali also got the name 'Muhammad' and was high ranking, but he snubbed Malcolm X instead of giving him support. That would have made it easier for Malcolm X to be assassinated, but they were supposed to be friends.

And Frazier got death threats due to being called an Uncle Tom and not black enough, and Ali also started screaming at Frazier outside a hotel room and pointing a gun at it.

I'm not saying Ali is the antichrist, but it gets kind of tiring when you hear all these people who start crying when they met him in person.

i think an "in-his-prime" Mike Tyson was one of the best fighers ive ever seen. not #1 but i think he's a lot higher on the list than 50. im not just talking about his power. he was a really smart fighter too. he understood the game. his speed, his head movement, his counter punching ability... just unbelievable.

some ppl look at the first holyfield fight and his other fights out of his prime... but i think when you look at him in his prime in the late 80's early 90's.... i dont think ive ever seen talent like that in recent years.

I think Tyson was a HELL of a fighter.

people want so bad for tyson to be considered good. i'm not that old so i'm not a boxing expert.

but i do know tyson got his ass beat 6 times and never beat anybody good except spinks and an older (38 yrs old) larry holmes.

all the really good guys boxed a long time ago.

Well, I guess I could count poker forums even though that's not what you said. Not sure why you'd be comparing SBR to poker forums in the first place. But yeah why not post the names of the gambling forums in here? No need to post links as I can find the threads myself. I know I've searched 4 other forums already and couldn't find anything. And in fact, when you Google the main words of this thread title, the first gambling/poker forum that appears is SBR. I realise you get frustrated when your threads aren't receiving the love you think they deserve, but you might want to be patient when people are just waking up and trying to sort through their bets for the day

Again, you find me 7 threads on gambling forums that had over 100 responses - not just you talking to yourself - before you made the statement in here, I'll pay you 500 points. If not, how about you agree to get off this kick you've been on as this is the second or third time I've seen you make the same claim now in different threads.

Young Tyson was badass to the extreme. Intimidation, big psychological advantage for him. I remember the fear on Michael Spinks' face when he stepped into the ring with Tyson. It was over before the opening bell. I think Ali would've have been scared and he wouldn't have been floating like a butterfly and stingin' like a bee as much as he would like. Fear factor

Yeah, to get back on the topic of the thread... I think we need people to comment who actually were around when Ali was fighting and in his prime. I only remember Tyson and the guys after that. Probably a few before but no one even came close to giving you chills when you saw them walk up to the ring like Tyson did. It's a bit hard to judge when you weren't living in that time. Videos, documentaries and whatever can only say so much... we jump on the racial and religious factor, and that's important, but I'd like to hear comparisons from actual boxing fans at the time.

    Shari, you calling me old?

I was a little kid when Ali was active. I remember a bit watching the fights with my dad. The watching fights with dad soured because he developed a total dislike for Howard Cosell, who announced many fights. Not sure why

haha no, you're not old... I actually remember that fight against Spinks where he lost only because my parents had a huge party at our house as we had the dish to watch it. I was just a kid but I remember how excited everyone was because a few of us kids were drink runners and we were constantly on the go. But he wasn't in his prime obviously and I had no clue what was going on really. Would love to hear about the fights before that from SBR guys. So hard to take what reporters and supposed experts who are younger than me say seriously because you never know if/why they're slanted.

    Best Quates by Muhammed Ali:

Ali was scared of Sonny Liston. And that was arguably his best performance, in his early 20s he was at his peak.

Before Floyd fought Liston the first time Ali was in his corner, and when Liston stepped through the ropes Ali made a mock-scared face and jumped out of the ring, and Floyd laughed.

Ali coped with his fear by acting hysterical at weigh ins, and chasing Liston around through all these cities, shouting at him in casinos and stuff. Liston in turn became afraid of Ali, he told one interviewer Ali was crazy, and the black Muslims were coming up.

The second fight after Liston went down, Ali tried to make him get back up, and then was led away. You can see the rueful expression on his face, because I guess he felt cheated of a genuine victory. But after that Ali changed his tune and said Liston was out to kill him in the ring that night, to protect his legacy.

After Liston died, someone asked Ali what he would say to Liston now if he could, and Ali said, 'Man you scaaared me.' Ali also said the toughest opponent was Frazier, hardest hitter Shavers, most powerful Foreman, and scariest was Liston.

Also, Tyson modelled his demeanor off Liston, so I don't think intimidation would be a big problem.
