Ten Reasons Why I Quit Gambling (not in order)
- I am never happy when I gamble. Even when I win (always thought that I should've bet more).
- Sad realization that I am just betting for action (known this for a while but I finally accepted it).
- Number of people I talk to on this forum has exceeded number of real people I talk to.
- Feel silly starring at gamecast for hours and I have no idea where is the college is located.
- I don't want to let my new gf know that I am #1 action junkie on SBR(actually I don't want her to know SBR period. I written things here that'll make girls leave me in a heart beat). Good time to make a clean start.
- I didn't make it and I don't really want to make it. I can't spend my life like Justin or Ganch.
- Homeland Security is looking at my western union transactions and WU has banned my name. Plus all my friends are paranoid sending and receiving money for me.
- I hate banks. Really tired of dealing with incompetent bank employees.
- The village I am supporting in Costa Rica is getting too lazy. I am cutting them off.
- Last minute screw jobs are buzz kill if you're high...even when you're winning overall.

very solid list.. and just FYI, 90% of gamblers have at least 7 of those 10 as a problem.
dont get me started here, cause if i had 4 hrs, i can make you a list of 193 things of why gambling sucks, not just 10 things.. don't get me started here.

nicky, i have way more reasons than that. but just listed top 10.
i am admitting i have a gambling problem and this is the first step to recovery. this addiction is not going away easy. i figured i have about 1-2 years before i have kids, don't want to let them think their dad is a degen. |

pico, it's impossible to be happily married with kids and do what you are doing.. you need to be there for your kids and wife all the time, and if you gamble, forget it. you cant be watching games while you need to pick up kid from friends house, or go buy diapers.
your wife will leave you and the kids will not know you.. forget ever getting married unless you quit.. or do this for 40 min then not watch games at all. family is a big responsibility.. no wife will accept this life if you have kids. she will divorce you.. it's one or the other. cant have both.

My father is a pro poker player and he didn't teach me anything about it except for a few hypothetical conversations and his advice to me "Never bet significant money on sports." Anyways, I would have to change myself completely to do what he does. He's got the discipline it takes to fold over 97% of the hands he gets (something like that, I don't remember the exact number). If he was an action junkie, he would have went broke long ago. He's a disciplined machine, the exact opposite of the kind of discipline most of us here have. For example, how many of us can pass up the temptation to bet on almost every big TV game?

As a father I disagree. You can order the diapers online from amazon.com like I do. The trick is to buy jewelry to your wife with the winnings. I told my wife if I quit gambling we have to stop buying diamond bracelets and rings and she said don't you ever quit gambling pavy or I'll kill you.

I will miss it. But I'm no longer sending any $$ offshore. Closed all my accts.! Reason? I win @ sports betting, but can't resist the lure of the "Casino". And you CANNOT beat their BJ. And don't say "bar casino play", I do and 4 days later call and tell em to reinstste it. Loser? Yup! This LY yr I won 11K on foots, did cash out 4 of it, lost the other 7 on BJ. And that was just in 1 mo., after I started to go to the casino. Call me whatever you like, but unless I just want to donate $$, I'll never send $$ again. Too hard now anyway. BOL to all who have the discipline! I don't, sober for over 20, so I do know about addiction.  |

I've had the pleasure of meeting Pico, he's an intelligent guy and his professional field requires higher education.
