Default Anyone Able to Log in to the New 5 Dimes?

You have to use a new account number (add “5D” to the beginning and drop the initials at the end—ignore the example they give on the site, which has a typo) and use your same password.

Unfortunately every time I log in with that new info I get the generic “Session has expired or cookies are disabled” error message. I’ve tried every combination of capital and lower case letters for the “D” and the password, I’ve cleared cookies, I’ve made sure no new cookies are blocked, I’ve tried different browsers, and I’ve restarted the computer, but can never get in.

I’ve called 5 Dimes three times about it but they just insist they can log in to my account fine from their end so there must be a problem at my end.

They did say they’ll be tinkering with the software changes for roughly another month, but that what they’ve done so far should be enough to enable all customers to log in. Not me.

[SIZE="7"]Yes i just logged in. Quite a different look. Even a blind person could read their New font size

There baseball was cluttered before and I'm not sure this is an improvement. though they have nickel lines on todays games which is nice.

It works for me, it seems quicker but looks very cheap. I rather take the quicker speeds than looking good.

    An decent upgrade

I’ve made some progress. After restarting the computer yet again, I’m now able to log in if I use Firefox but still can’t with Internet Explorer. And that’s a pain because there are several sites that either don’t work or don’t work as well with Firefox, which means I now have to have both browsers going for different books.

What browser are you using, Rolemand?

The layout I suppose I can get used to. (The default font size does seem to be unusually big, forcing one to have to scroll sideways to see everything, which is a pet peeve of mine. But I reduced it with “View,” “Text Size,” so it seems OK now.)

The main things for me—well, beyond actually being able to access it with Internet Explorer—will be: Are they still the single worst of the major books for site crashes and slowdowns during busy times? and Do they still have one of the most infuriatingly fast timeouts of any sportsbook?

I use IE for everything and have never had a problem with any of the books I use not working due to something on my end.

    firefox sucks, a square browser

www.maxthon.com is the best gambling browser ever and I never had one issue with any book site. I am now on my 3rd year using this browser and never went back to any others.

    What are it's advantages JJ?

Roller first off it is way more compatible with websites than firefox. The tabs can be named how you like and any order you like. The tabs each have an auto reload feature. It is faster than firefox also.

Still the Internet Explorer engine, which makes it just as slow. I use Maxthon, and its just Internet Explorer on Roids.

Firefox is by far the best browser. You can customize it to the max. Including have it load the few websites that dont format right in Firefox by loading in the IE engine with in a Firefox tab. The extension is called IE Tab. Find it HERE(Click), along with other good extensions and addons.

Not to mention its safer and faster then IE.

For what it’s worth I never was able to log in to the new site with Internet Explorer. I have to open that one separately in Firefox, which is a pain. 5 Dimes simply washed their hands of the matter. Their last e-mail says only a few of their customer report being unable to use Internet Explorer with their site any more. (I’ll wager it’s far more than “a few.” Presumably they’re only counting people who contacted them about the problem, and subsequently reported that the suggested solutions failed and they still can’t get in. Surely there are many more people who just switched browsers or opted not to bother with this book any more when they realized they couldn’t access the site with Internet Explorer.)

I know they dropped action points recently. Looking over the new bet offerings, it seems like they have fewer “alternate lines” than in the past. Plus I no longer see the reduced juice on prime time football games any more. It used to be hidden in the “Props” section. Is it somewhere else now, or just discontinued?

I haven’t looked all that closely, but are the offerings noticeably thinner beyond that? Looks to me like they’ve lost a decent amount of the value that kept me as a customer.

The only positive I’ve noticed is the site loads enormously faster for me now than before.

I always used IE before and I have no problems with 5dimes loading with IE now. Not sure about it anything about it being faster but the reload feature is positively the worst. Might as well go to the bank and withdraw cash and mail it to them, it would be faster than there new process.

I had the same problem logging into their site but have no problems getting into their new shitty site using their mirrors

    homewager.com
    propbet.com

Daystrom, I just tried both those URLs, but they both automatically redirect me to the www.5dimes.com home page, from which I remain unable to log onto my account (with Internet Explorer).

How do you get it to stay on one of those other two URLs?

When I use the mirror sites, it also takes me to the 5 Dimes site but I can log on without the page of errors.

"Session has expired or cookies are disabled!

Either your session has timed out, you entered an invalid page directly, or "cookies" are not turned on in your browser. First, try and login again and if you receive this message again, follow the directions below to activate "cookies" in your browser.

To activate "cookies" in Microsoft Internet Expolore, select Internet Options from the View menu. Then select the Advanced tab to reveal your advanced browser settings. Scroll down until you see security settings. Select "Always accept cookies" and press the Apply button. Then restart Internet Explorer.

To activate "cookies" in Netscape Communicator, select Preferences from the Edit menu. Then click on Advanced in the tree view on the left. Select "Accept All Cookies" - then the Ok button.

Cookies are needed to keep track of where you are in the wagering process. They pose no security threat in that the cookies cannot directly manipulate your computer. You can temporarily turn cookies on when making wagers online and then disable them if you subsequently want no other sites to use them."

    Look familiar?

Yes that’s the error page I get every time, but including from those mirror sites.

Damn, I wish I could help you. Using the mirror redirect was the only way I could log into the site. Are you using the new IE7? That's the one I'm using.

That’s one of the things I talked to them about. They said I needed to use Internet Explorer 6, which is what I have. I assume though that they meant “at least” 6, so maybe I should try 7.

I looked it up online and I see that IE7 is labeled a “release candidate.” I gather that in computer jargon that means it’s not quite done—maybe one level up from a “beta” version of something. Is it working well for you so far? I’d hate to download it and get something with a lot of the bugs still in it that causes problems for my computer.

You can also run a spoof too to make IE 6. On microsoft's IE 7 page under support, you can download an app to let you go to sites that work fine under 6 but not 7.

    that's a joke right?

People have complained about their software for ages and only now are they are doing something about. Listening is not a skill set they possess.
