Oh man, get used to it. Get used to hearing about the retirement of athletes whom, last you remember, you were thinking of as, 'That snotty hot-dog rookie kid.'

The cycle gets shorter and shorter. I swear time speeds up as you go along.

Yes exactly. Maturity is often the measure of who has the most polished act.

Yeah - same thing applies to anything to can be used as a reference point. Guys I watched being drafted as #1 are about to retire. Back to the Future is almost 25 years old. Joe Satriani is 52.

    Meanwhile, I'm still 21, wait, 22, no wait... 2009-1978 = oh shit.

There are kids I taught years ago in Grade 4 who are now well into their own teaching careers. Or I'll see them with their own children, which is a bit disconcerting when I think that the last time I saw these former students they were no more than 10 years old.

The slight advantage is that numerous times now I've been in a restaurant or a bar when suddenly a free pint of beer will appear in front of me, with the server letting me know that some former student now all grow'd up had recognized ol' Mr. Brooks and sent over a pint.

Yes the money factor. I was just having a conversation last night about the late Tony Randall who married a 25 year-old when he was 75 - and then proceeded to have two kids.

Well actually, I don't know. Would Tony Randall have been rolling in the dough? I guess so. Maybe he invested his Odd Couple money wisely. He got a 25 year-old somehow.

But then the next question is why spoil it with kids? I don't know.

    And wasn't Tony Randall gay?

I probably haven't helped anything by invoking the name of Tony Randall.

    Another bummer.

I am browsing porn and having impure thoughts about a young internet model. She's hot. I am thinking she is very young and the whole situation is probably very creepy what with my old, decrepit state. But what can you do? I'm sitting here alone. If I pretend I don't find her attractive, who am I fooling? It is a long-running thread on a well-established forum so I'm sure she is legal.

Very young, she looks to me though. That's when I notice that the pics of her I am looking at are copied from a MILF site.

This entire discussion seems very interesting to me seeing as how I am still very very young (especially by this board's standards) but I have had to mature very fast given my life experiences. Even at my young age, I've thought about the process of aging but I find great satisfaction knowing that I will find that special one, have children and watch them grow into great human beings. In my mind, that entire process is more fulfilling than anything you can do when you're young.

Of course, there are some inevitable issues that will arise as a result of the aging process. But keeping yourself in shape, exercising everyday, taking proper nutrients and vitamins should minimize what happens. My father had many of the problems aforementioned, but once he adopted many of these principles and kept his health as a number one priority - he improved tremendously.

You say you are young by this board's standards? Hard to think what that might mean. There are an awful lot of young 'uns around here, seems like.

Anyway you have a good attitude StyleQ, and a mature one. You look beyond the issue I keep fixating on of my perceived creepiness, and see the big picture.

Keeping body and mind in shape is definitely the important thing. For all my hand-wringing, I can say I have done that and am in great shape for my age. The fact that I remain a fairly horny bastard is a good thing really.

Do the best you can do. That's all you can do. See how, like, wise I have totally become?

By that I mean, I just recently hit the two decade mark (a few months ago). But you have the right mentality. The fact remains, hormones are just part of our anatomy (and as you mentioned a very good one). If it comforts you at all, there are many friends that I know that are women who are very attracted to older men. And often, "cougars" we encounter at the bars/ clubs are often scrutinized. So it isn't just a one way thing. Girls in their late teens and early twenties are often, in my opinion, oblivious to aging but once they hit 25 they usually have no problems talking to attractive men who are older.
