Default To all those who don't understand taxes

If I read one more time about Warren Buffetts secretary paying more in taxes then Warren I might explode. So read this and shut up

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.

    The fifth would pay $1.

    The sixth would pay $3.

    The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

    And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).<>The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).

The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).

The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).

The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

What your story doesn't tell is that over the last 20 years

The first 1-9 salaries increased 100% while the #10 guy's salary increased 400%. Yet this #10 guy will bitch about the taxes when in reality he is 4 times better off than the 9.

How about we do this even simpler.....

The average american family consist of 4. The medium household income is between 38 and 42k a year.

Just taking the standard deuction this family would have to pay a total amount of taxes of less than 900 dollars. If this family owns a home and pays interest on the home this family would actually get money back even if they claimed exempt the whole year.

Lets say this family had no tax write offs and paid 900 in taxes for the year. The average american family pays into the 2% tax bracket, yet they complain they are being taken advantage of.

Buffett just continuously differs capital gains taxes. He never sold berskhire and allowed retained earnings to compound within the holding company. If taxes had to be paid on gains they were done at corporate rates which were more favorable and could be offset by deductions.

individual and household income don't have the same advantages.

Once upon a time a man, named Warren, made some money. That year he paid 30% tax on the money he made. So out of his 100 income he is only left with 70 bucks. With that 70 bucks he buys stock A. Now lets say in 10 years that stock is worth 105 dollars. Now he has to pay 15% tax on the 35 dollar gain from the stock sale. Now he pays 15% tax on money he has ALREADY PAID 30% TAX ON! So now Warren has made 135 dollars and only has 100 bucks left. Can't you fuks add? He paid a lower percent tax than his secretary this year but that money didn't come from his ass. He has already paid tax on it now he is paying tax TWICE! How fukking hard is that to understand??

Classic lib post. Let me guess #10 also slaughtered endangered baby seals and beats up on disabled people. Last I checked we live in a free market. If you feel you are getting exploited and can't change the situation you either have a shitty education and can't get a different job, lack work ethic, or don't have the stones to take a fukking risk.

The meal is not that good and as you go to pay the manager says it will be free.
so The 9 people want their money back even though they didnt pay for anything.
so the manager has how about you pay the bill and i'll give everyone gift certificates

The world isn't fair pal. Some people are born with big swinging diks and some people have tuna cans for roosters. Sitting at home and crying about what's fair won't get you very far. Last I checked this still is America and hard work and some common sense will take you a long way. Not saying that nepotism isn't a very possible option but at least you were born with the option to change your future. How about being born in a small village in Africa in the middle of BFE. Those kids are fukked.

I don't feel like rich people should be punished for being smart with their money and not blowing it all on cars and blow. I also don't believe that poor mid class should pay more for taxes, but the answer to everything is not tax the rich more. They are rich (In most cases, not all) because of being smart and working hard

this parable has given me a new way i think people should be taxed.

people that create companies and corporations should get taxed at a reasonable rate. then the management, BOD, and other higher up personal should get an increasingly higher tax rate the longer they are in management and as their salary goes up. this way number ten will get pissed and quit then number 9 can take over for 10.

this will help push people along before corruption sets in.
