    Default Watchmen movie...

Produced by the same guy that did "300"... I love the superhero genre.

My only concern is the original author of the comic series "disavowed" the movie, even refusing royalties from it because it is an "adaptation". Still though, I love all the other moves from the superhero genre, and the (new) live comic genre.

Anyone else seeing this when it opens tomorrow?

Just bought the graphic novel yesterday... wanted to read it before I went and saw this. I'll probably check it out next weekend to give me time to read it and avoid opening weekend lines.

It got very good reviews from both guys on At The Movies. I don't feel a need to rush out and see it on the first day or anything, but the trailer and reviews were very intriguing and I will get to it soon for sure.

Any books doing odds on O/U for box office earnings? News sites said it will have the largest release for an R rated flick.

Very mixed reviews. I loved the comics, so I'll have to see it at some point.

Transformers will smoke everyone here. They'll draw from every age group especially with the success of the first.

Dark horse for Wolverine. I think this movie might beat out all previous comic book movies.

Marvel's most popular dood, with Jackman who killed it in the XMen films.

    It's a sleeper.

G.I. Joe; The Rise of the Cobra?

Really? There's going to be a G.I. Joe; The Rise of the Cobra? And people are expected to see it? Oy vay.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Not only was there a Garfield movie, there was a sequel, Tale of Two Kitties.

The world of movies is a dark and disturbing place.

Did you read the graphic novel? From what I'm gathering, people that read it enjoyed the movie quite a bit, and those that didn't by and large disliked it.

Just finished the book Thursday, will likely go and see this either this weekend or next.

“Watchman” was the worst movie I have seen since the atrosity “The Marine”. I have never read any of the comic books, had never seen anything about it, so I went in with an open mind. I love comic book movies, and have enjoyed atleast 95% of all of them that I have seen.

The year is not over - Avatar still to come - but it is winning with just under 143 million.

    Transformers - 109 million

    X-Men Wolverine - 85 million

    Star Trek - 75 million

. . . and on down the line.

There is probably a better list somewhere - this is an all-time list - but you can pick out the 2009 releases.

It seems as though the people that were able to follow and understand the movie enjoyed it; but the others would say they didn't really understand what was going on, and that the movie was too long.

Thanks for this, Mudcat -- good work.

Of the movies I've seen from that long "blockbuster" list in this thread, I thought STAR TREK was by far the best film.

I did like Watchmen, as it was a little different from the rest, but I thought it peetered out somewhat. Gave it 3 stars on Netflix. For a while I thought it was very good but ultimately it was disappointing.

Wolverine was awful. Such a shame how far that series has fallen. First one is one of my all-time faves.

Sorry James Cameron, but Avatar does not look good to me at all... I predict a massive flop!

Funny, my favorite movie of this year might be Paranormal Activity -- made for 11,000 dollars!!!!!!!!!
