As an ex ballplayer I can confirm lots of guys bet. It is more though in the double A and triple A leagues. Two reasons are

1: Lots of time on buses and in afternoons

2: Many of them are very competitive people which usually means it leads to other behaviors so guys tried to beat the games.

Most lost and bet mainly baseball with locals back then

Did they ever bet on minor league games? Are there rules at the minor league level against these sorts of things?

I'm not sure I've ever seen lines on minor league games...I believe most ballplayers bet on the sports other than than the ones they play...

Slugger: Any rules against AA players betting on MLB ? I'm sure it's at least frowned upon.

I think 5 Dimes is the only book that allows minor league betting. I would think once you sign a pro contract you cannot bet baseball period.

You cannot bet in minor leagues either as you must sign an agreement in your contract. Gambling is strictly enforced if you get caught in baseball.

Im willing to bet that most people who have low paying sprts related jobs bet the sport. How easy would it be as a ref to pick 5 games of the sched that will go over the total??
