Default has this forum made you a better capper ?

the SBR forum has been open for a little over a year now. i'm curious to hear if any of you guys might have picked up any new techniques, or anything else that might have made you a better capper since the sbr forum has opened it's doors? If so i'd like to hear some about what you might have picked up.

i dont think i have gotten any better at all. Of course the only area where i have little to no confidence in is pickin a correct NFL over/under.

    In my case it has...
but that's because I explicitly asked for some advice in order to improve different factors of my capping...
I feel that most of this advice has been useful and therefore has made me a better capper.
Small things can save you money too, for example weather updates, injury reports or just a heads up on time from people who live in a certain place or follow a certain team closely.

We have everything but a daily report on how salty the clubhouse sunflower seeds are. Give it time though, I'm sure somebody will start a daily thread on it.

This forum has made me a lot more conscious of books, which is part of being a capper. But that's about it. In the past the statfox forum did help me become better, mainly because people are sharing systems and keeping track of experiments, etc. The whole vibe is more towards research. The percentage of sharps here is greater than at statfox, but the level of sharing is not. I prefer this forum, because it is better organized (and I hardly ever play picks by others), but if I wanted to try out things I'd do so at statfox, because I'd get more feedback.

The lines section is first rate. I used to visit cbs sports, sportsnetwork, yahoo, skybook, pinnacle...to name a few, looking up stats info. SBR's lines and match-up info pretty much covers it for me now.

Like to see a few more books tho

Aad should add, for over 4 years now I've considered SBR the #1 source for sportsbook rating. I've stayed off quite a number of books b/.c of SBR's rating/opinions

Yeah, I will say that this forum helped me realize the
    importance of line selection.

has definitely made me better a better capper as I really appreciate the articles that are posted and the thoughts that are shared in the particular sports forums...

however, I would say my most improved area is my knowledge of the industry (that many of the other posters have helped me with)...thanks for my education guys...

I agree with this statement. Baseball sucks. You'd think the Astros could score one measly run against an emergency minor league call up or you'd think when you have under 10.5 the Angels could avoid giving up eight runs in an inning and go over the posted total by 1.5 runs. I am done with baseball this year...

NFL on the other hand is much easier.

NBA second half wagers are like printing money. If you are a good handicapper and watch the lines for a month, you will be able to cash winning ticket after winning ticket. Come to the forums when the NBA starts and I'll elaborate...

I agree 2nd half wagers are pretty easy. Go against the
public on those bets and go against the possible middle
opportunities and you will come out a winner. I agree
2nd half wagers can be easy if you know what your doing!!

    2nd halves in CBB also!!

To answer the question in the title of the thread:

yes, it has helped me technically hone my average skills and make me a little above average now. I have to credit raiders and ganchrow for some of the wisdom they imparted in the early days of the forum.
