I know there have been lots of complaints, and - while I know SBR is a business - other forums have had plenty of success without posting that shit in the main forums.
If one of the mods could send me an e-mail if/when this is ever resolved, that would be great. Until then, hope everyone does OK in life and in gambling. I'll personally be elsewhere.

A good point - we need to get the touts off here trying to pimp their crappy books. It's just like the conversation I had with my good friends at BetUS the other day - they really do go the extra mile for their players.

In all seriousness, Razz. You are being a bit petty about this. They make their money selling picks. So what. They don't hurt anyone and at least they have some modicum of knowledge. If you're so against them then rip them to shreds here on the forum. Prove them to be the pathetic losers you apparently think that they are. It shouldn't be that difficult. Single out one of the assclowns and take him down. Don't just run away because SBR is trying to better fund its superior product.

At least the picks are free and generally not that intrusive. I really don't feel like any of these guys personally, but seems like damn near every site seems to feature them. My advice would be to continue to include them, but move up the actual forum content higher on the main page. Links to active threads etc.

Is sort of like suppliment industry in weight lifting. Most of it is BS, but some people buy the shit and it is a way to make money so it sticks around.

I don't have a problem with touts - hell, I have played Mike Rose's Arena Football plays in the past. I have a problem with "SBRForumStaff" posting 15 different plays. Something like this is at least tolerable, because the tout is at least posting the play himself, and is able to interact with the other members of the forum. But this is better, as posters are still able to view the play, and comment if they choose.
Like I told Illusion the other day, it's a pain in the ass seeing the baseball forum cluttered with them, but it's not the end of the world. The problem is going to arise during football season, where instead of 10-15 games a day, there will be about 70 games per weekend. There will be a best bets thread, a discussion thread, maybe two or three others created by posters, and what? 35 by "SBRForumStaff" giving touts' plays, including a couple on the same game? That is beyond a pain in the ass, it's a catastrophe.
Plenty of other forums have been able to easily support themselves without selling out like this. Having a separate forum for this shit is not only smart, it's mandatory.
Maybe I'm being petty, but I've received pms about this (I wouldn't have started this thread if I was the only one complaining), Illusion said he has received "several complaints," and something needs to be done by September 2.

In terms of clutter, Razz is absolutely correct. It does keep me from reviewing the threads in the baseball and football forums. The root of the problem is not capitalism, it's simply organization.

Yikes. I just had a look over there for the first time and I have to say, I agree with Razz.

I don't use those particular forums enough to comment on the clutter factor but I sure don't like the concept. Endorsing touts is the opposite of the SBR credo of helping players.

To me, it would be comparable to letting selected stock tippers and fake Rolex salesmen and guys selling magical potions for increasing your sperm count to start making daily posts in the Main Forum.

Sure I could "just ignore it" but I have never liked the concept of, "just ignore it" as a proper response to something like that. I'd rather see Razz's approach of pushing for improvement.

We appreciate your enthusiasm but there is no need to panic. The forum is going to give what the majority of posters want. I personally think you will get further without the change-it-or-else attitude.

No one is selling anything in these posts. They are picks with the cappers telling you the reason behind the play. A lot of players want to know what is behind the magical picks from guys that have won capping contests and marketed their way to celebrity status. This gives them an idea. I myself, wrote an article a few years back, about why players should not purchase picks.

But, there is some good information behind many of these plays. Some of these guys don't even sell at all and others go as far as to give you the max price it's worth playing at. Guys like Fezzik are putting their own money on the line.

I agree with Razz that a separate section for tout plays would be better. I personally could care less what these folks have to say.

Why would an expert bettor want to be in the public eye, or feel a need to supplement his income by selling picks? There may be one or two exceptions, but for the most part these 'cream-of the-croppers' are bottom-of-the-barrell in my betting universe.

Well, they're not exactly selling the picks in these posts, but they certainly are advertising.

My personal opinion, if these posts have a link to a commercial site in them (last I checked, they did) then they belong in the promo section or a seperate section for free picks from touts. If these guys are willing to give out their picks simply out of the goodness of their hearts or spirit of community (like other members of the forum) without the need to pimp their websites, l'm sure they'd be completely welcome in the main forums.

But I'll say again, that's just my preference, I don't consider it a huge offense for SBR to make some money this way.

I respect everyone's opinion in this matter. And I do think that SBR needs to do something regarding this. Separate section seems to be like a good option.
But Ive seen some people go into their threads and taunting the guys. I just think that we should be respectful of all people involved.
Whoever wants to read it and comment their picks or their opinions should do it, but I feel we should show some respect.
If this is anyones fault its SBR and not the guys.

What you should get from this thread is that the information - which is at times worth reading, but at other times is a ridiculous waste of time and space - should be in a separate space. I promise you, no one who is looking for this information would be unable to find it if it was located in a forum called "Free Plays and Writeups" (or whatever) - which could even be a sub-forum of the individual sports forums.
Like I say, I don't mind the information being provided - I would encourage it actually - it's just that it's in places it doesn't need to be.
I'm not trying to give an ultimatum, I just know that this bothers a lot of people, and it really bothers me. There is no benefit to having 75% of the threads in our sports forums in reference to plays made by people who don't even post here.

And why, when I ignore SBRForum Staff, do I still see all the ridiculous threads he created?
