Default Griffin III Officially turning Pro

Good move for him, guy already got his Degree. Not much realistic chance of him winning a National Championship.

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III on Tuesday is informing Baylor coach Art Briles that he has decided to turn pro, according to a family source, and an announcement is imminent.

Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is expected to be a top-10 pick in April's NFL draft.
The Heisman Trophy winner's next task is to choose an agent and he is in the process of finalizing his choice of representatives, which could come as early as Tuesday night.

The deadline for underclassmen to formally petition for the NFL draft is this Sunday.

Griffin is projected as a top-10 pick and several personnel men believe he could go high as the first or second choice depending upon his pre-draft workouts and evaluations.

Baylor this season matched a school record with 10 wins and won its last six games, including a record-breaking 67-56 victory over Washington in the Alamo Bowl. Griffin was the nation's most efficient passer, throwing for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He ran for 699 yards and 10 more scores.

Griffin, who arrived at Baylor in January 2008 after graduating high school a semester early, got his undergraduate degree in political sciences in December 2010 and is working on a masters in communication.

Griffin, who played this season as a fourth-year junior, has another of year of eligibility remaining at Baylor because he got a medical redshirt after he tore the ACL in his right knee in the third game of the 2009 season.

In 41 games for the Bears, he has completed 800 of 1,192 passes (67 percent) for 10,366 yards with 78 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He has run for 2,254 yards and 33 TDs and set at least 46 school records.

Now is his time. Nothing to gain by returning to Baylor except another Heisman. He may enjoy the college scene, but the NFL coin will set him for the rest of his life. No point in risking injury.

Good move. Wonder who takes stab at him.

Will not be as good as Cam. Not even sure where he will fall in the draft? I guess he's a mid first rounder. Might be better for everyone involved to have him fall to a late first rounder and have a 49ers, Jets, Cowboys, Houston type.

Going to be tough. Let's say a team like Cleveland takes him, then what? You basically have two McCoys. I will say he is a genuine good guy with a good head and a live arm but the next step is going to be tough.

you compared colt mccoy to RG3 ahhahaha. Colt mccoy is kellen moore.

The only knock on RG3 is he isnt his listed height of 6'2. and really 6'2 is somewhat small for top 5 qb. But if hes 6 foot only hes a mike vick without the dog killing.

Cleveland will have a new qb next year, they will not go with mccoy. It will be RG3, or tannehill if high pick. Hassleback/campbell/veteran qb with a project qb drafted like foles. Or they sign matt flynn. Mccoy will not be the starting qb for the browns next year. No way.

Will sell tickets, which is number one reason the NFL exists...

To be effective, he has to run...

If he runs, he gets hurt...

    Another Mike Vick...

They would be perfect fits in a Houston Texans type scheme... Strong defense, Running game, Bootlegs off playaction...

Griffin has somewhat of an unorthodox throwing style (not the same as Tebow) but he might throw one of the most catch-able passes of anyone coming out including Luck. Now I'm not saying he understands the game or is better suited for the pro-style offense than Luck is just that his passes are amazingly accurate.

If he can develop and if he grasp the pro-style there is a HUGE up-side to Griffin.

Didn't deserve it? Did you watch any Baylor games this year? He most definitely made his team better and while he DID have playmakers on offense he has incredible athletic ability and he brought a lot of success to a sorry college with very little accolades and history. His deep ball is better then Barkley's and arguable more consistent then Luck's. I still think Luck is the better overall right now because he's Pro ready from Day #1.

I'll say he has definite bust potential (he's probably a bit undersized and he also needs to be taught to stick in the pocket rather then bail out and make plays with his feet and speed). His UPSIDE potential is what will attract more then a few teams that desperately need a franchise signal caller (Cleve/Miami/Washington/Seattle/KC among the more notable teams).

To the big dummy saying th Browns will take him no chance... You sound stupid we will pass on him. Holmgren believes in the west coast offense and griffin cant and wont be that 3 step pass kinda guy.. Too much time spent in the shotgun. Holmgren dogged denver in his press conference for saying changing your entire offense might work for the short term but over the long haul it juist won work.

Get griffin out of your head in a browns uniform it isnt happenning

IMO, with the depleted QB position that many teams have faced this season, Luck and Griffin could potentially both go in the top 6-7, as they stand head and shoulders above the rest of the QBs coming into the league next year in terms of talent, despite there being a decently large pool of second tier QB talent in the draft. In particular, the Redskins and Jaguars are both in dire need of an upgrade at QB, and the Colts would be crazy not to draft Luck #1 regardless of whether they intend to keep Peyton or not.

Im a browns fan too. Kinda funny about the shotgun quote...colt mccoy took 90% of his snaps in college out of shotgun.

"Is Young Griff the prototypical West Coast quarterback? No, but neither was Donovan McNabb, and Andy Reid, Mike Holmgren's pupil, selected him back in 1999'.

Anyhow i could def. see the browns taking nick foles, even tho i think he will be horrendous. Not much facts to back it up, only seen him twice and both games was not impressed at all.

browns will publicaly try not to be tied to griffen as they dont want anyone moving up ahead of them in the draft. Stupid to say your in love with a player and have another team know that and realize they have to move up in front of that team for that player.

I assumed all along he was going pro. I thought it was amusing when the ESPN people kept talking about how he'd decide. It was never really a question.

80 percent of his passes are 5 yard passes in a league with no defense, . He'll do no better than josh freeman whom everyone thought would dominate this season and didn't.

Rg3 will be average at best. If he has the best deep throws, good for him, that is needed on less than 10% of his passes in the nfl. It's the other 90% of his throws I would be worried about.

I noticed that RG3 wasn't all that much shorter than Luck at the Heisman awards. He's probably close to 6'2" which is much taller than Brees and about the same as Rodgers. There is no guarantee RG3 will be good but lumping him in with every black QB or guys from a spread offense is pretty stupid. I've seen him alot and he'll be fun to watch in the NFL. The only drawback I see is pocket awareness....he gets hit alot from hanging on the ball til the last second but that can be coached. I hope he doesn't go to Cleveland though....career killer for anyone at this point.

Yeah the Big 12 was so bad they went 5-1 in bowl games this season. Josh Freeman has nobody to stretch the field on that team and no defense so blaming him for everything is stupid. Oh by the way...he's like 6'6" and 260....has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in common with RG3 except skin tone. By that logic...Aaron Rodgers should've sucked because Ryan Leaf sucked?
