Stu Ungar could have been the best of all time, IF he didn't get hook on the drugs. 3 wsop tournys won though does give him my vote.

Doyle, the man is a pioneer and he showed he can still play when he won a bracelet at last years WSOP.

Hellmuth and wins pretty easy, he is still great with the big fields in tourneys
Guys like Unger and Chan were great but dominated when poker was very small.
Brunson I would rate high also
Newcomers... I like the Aussie who won the WS last year, David Williams and Jeff Madsen.
It is a whole new generation now so to really de good in Poker now will be a very tough task because of so many people playing. The day of the so called Poker Star is over.

One thing for sure.
I think if a women can not just make the Final Table, but win the thing, the popularity will sky rocket for sure.
I gotta go wit Annie Duke or Jenn Harmen (not bad looking either).
