MLB free agents you covet most for your team
as a pirate fan, I guess my top choice would be Looper right now....

I'm a Yankee Fan sooo I covet none of the free agents because we already have all the good ones.... Archie, you can go ahead and send over that center fielder you have out in Pittsburgh... you guys are just delaying the inevitable.

it is quite an honor to be a farm club for the yanks, cubs, bo-sox ect...
Mclouth is not really a CF...he takes horrible routes, reads the ball of the bat wrong ect..... he is a corner outfielder really, despite his speed. In fact he finished the season playing rightfield mostly... and he'll prob start the season there too. I think NL pitchers have figured him out and he will hae a down year anyways... 265 20 hr's 80 rbi's maybe.
I'm excited about Jose Tabata, Jeff Karstens, Ohledorf, Hansen ect. though...

not a F.A. but you have no idea how badass Adam Loewen will be as a position player with the Jays.
May take a while, but, hell yeah.
god bless.

Ya, McLouth is real bad defensively, but that would fit in with the Yankees plan of fielding in the worst defensive club of all time.
McCutchen will probably be in center field by June, and McLouth in left. With Moss/Morgan/Pearce in right.
But as for your orginial question. I like Looper on a one year deal. And I would give Mulder a tryout deal (if healthy).
Tabata is looking great. I would be surprised if doesn't become at least as good as Nady within 3 years.

El....
I read somewhere that McCutchen was about 10-15 pounds heavier this year, lifted hard this off season and is growing into his body..... I just worry about any prospect that pirates have, they always manage to find a way to mess the few that they develop up, one way or another...
should be in an interesting year, almost every position is a ? mark right now

Hopefully with the new management team those things won't happen anymore. McCutchen looks like he overcame being rushed to AAA, and looks to be a legitimate MLB CF. I see him as a 15 hr guy.
Ya, it's weird, everyone on the team that is established (LaRoche, Wilson, Sanchez, Grabow) is on the trade block. Then there are the guys coming off an unusually down year (Gorzo, Snell) or an unusually great year (Doumit, McLouth). And the rest are barely above prospect level.
I got them going 75-87.

you guys have a great GM and can develop talent...... you have your down times, but your up times too....
sucks pretty bad when you are almost assured your franchise will set the mark this year for the most consecutive losing seasons ever.... and no help is on the way

While I don't think he sucks, I don't think he is going to figure it fully. I could see him having a Kyle Farnsworth type career. His stuff is too good to write off.
