    Default Amazin' Atlanta.....

Apparently, they became the first team in 76 years to score double-digit runs in 5 straight games tonight (1930 Yankees of Ruth and Gehrig being the last)...I don't follow the NL much to be honest, but wasn't this team considered all but dead a few weeks back? Now 4 games behind the Big Red Machine for the Wild Card.

this atlanta team is on fire right now.

i really can't believe that line is that high tomorrow. even with carpenter on the mound against a rookie pitcher.

I have to agree...No doubt all teams cool off eventually, but Alanta's status right now has to be considered "Nuclear"...I'm all RedSox and usually stick to the AL, but from an MLB historical viewpoint, Atlanta's output of late is becoming one for the ages...Would love to get Willie Bee's perspective on this, as I'm sure he could dig up all sorts of historically comparitive stats with regards to Atlanta's recent run.

the thing about atlanta though is that they seem to turn it on after they play about 90-100 games. this seems to happen every year.

And if they do that again this year, which seems like it may already be underway, I like their chances...The Reds have done well, but if Arroyo continues to tank like he's being doing lately, that's gonna hurt them big time. Plus, and I hate to say it, Griffey's probably one diving catch removed from the DL...Apart from Cincy, there's half a dozen teams that stand in their way, but I think their experience, and Cox, has to account for something. Personally, I'd fear the Astros above all, as the Houstonites seem to make it their personal habit of doing nothing for the first 90 days and then still coasting into the playoffs.

If Atlanta manages to win big again tomorrow with every factor pointing in the favor of St. Louis, I would become concerned if I were a Mets fan.

I think the much more likely scenario is that the Cards salvage one in this series and return the game 1 favor by ending the Braves' 7-game win streak.

If they keep this up, they may sneak into the wildcard. There's still alot of baseball left so we shall see.

wow,I had no idea they were only a few games out of the wildcard....I thought they were out of it this year......Great run by the Braves

I'd love to see them make the playoffs......doesn't get any more fun than to watch the Braves choke in the post-season.....Its just tradition!
