    Default OT - 7/18/2006 Puzzle

    Yesterday's answer was "ACIDIC". (Explanation: Each word on the list has the property of being the same backwards and forwards when you remove the first letter. The word "acidic", which describes the sense of taste, fits this pattern The title of the puzzle also gives. Something which is "not basic" (e.g. not akalline) is acidic.) Solved by Sean on 7/17/2006 at 13:38:18, Mudcat on 7/17/2006 at 14:19:16, and MrX on 7/17/2006 at 19:17:44.

    Today:

    C = 19070213
    E = 19310218
    G = 19490302
    I = 19730307
    K = 19870304

    Z = ?

    The title of this puzzle should provide a rather helpful hint.

    The title consists of a literal statement, a homophone, and the inappropriately used synonym of a essential to the puzzle.

    The literal statement and the homophone taken together are a hint as to what the numbers represent.

    The inappropriately used synonym is a hint as to the ordering of the numbers.

    You know when I first started putting that puzzle together I actually thought it was too easy, so I tried to make it a little more interesting by adding a few more steps. Perhaps I went too far?

    Good job though.

    lol!

    By any chance, could you PM me the variation of the puzzle you were originally going to post? I'm pretty sure everyone I know will NOT be able to solve the puzzle in its present form
