If you wanted an indication as to how stupid the world in general is, you just have to look at the percentage of people that believe in any given religion.

Is there a 'god'? I'd lay -100000000 on 'No'. A 'higher power/energy'? Perhaps - I mean the Universe had to start somewhere, and even the 'Big Bang' had to ignite somehow, and from something.

Actually there are about 6 Billion people in the world and only 2 billion confessing Christians. So not as many as you would think.

But anybody not trying to be smarter than they are knows deep inside something created the Earth, no way is this an accident.

Christianity isn't the only religion in the world. Approx. 2 billion follow Christianity, 1.3 billion follow Islam, 900 million follow Hinduism, and 300 million follow Buddism.

4.5 billion followers of religion. Practically 2/3 of world population. That is an embarrasing statistic in this modern era of information and science.

I wasn't reffering to you Mike or anyone on here in particular, just saying it's been my experience that many religious people will try to persuede non-beileivers they're wrong, even if the non-beieliver has made it pretty obvious he couldn't give a toss one way or another.

To your main point, yes, you can tout whatever you like. It's when people do it for attention purposes it gets rather dull and pretty predictable.

I'm against that type of religion too. Any kind of moralizing is way out of bounds, IMHO. That's one of the big things that Jesus taught, which Chi_Archie keeps repeating. I'm removing my planks, Jesus.

What information & science are you referring to? Science refutes Bible literalism and that's about it. Information might refute any proof that God exists, at least any meaningful interpretation of God. But religion never talks about proof, it talks about faith.

In any event, I've debated Christianity from a scientific & philosophical perspective throughout my life. There really isn't as much conflict as one might think, much less a slam dunk refutation of Christianity which some people seem to hand wave away with the same perspective of faith which they are trying to refute.

We can open this debate as well. Philosophically, religion & God is pretty cut & dry. God cannot be proven or disproven because God is not well defined. We can go through the scripture verse by verse, comparing it to science, but then all one has to do is say that the Bible was not intended as a scientific document. There's really nothing to prove or disprove any more than in science, which simply collects data and produces data models which are accurate and testable. The answer is to simply let science be science, philosophy be philosophy and let religion be religion. None is the end-all be-all answer to everything.
