Default Niners owner knew what he was doing

He thought he had a pretty good team with an idiot at the helm. Fired Singletary, fixed it with harbough. Great mind.

They sucked with Mike Nolan also. But yes, Singletary is a linebackers coach not a HC.

sf will play some good teams later in the season. pit, balt. they play giants too. impressive wins over cincy, detroit, and philly.

They've done well so far, but it's amazing what happens when you have a healthy Frank Gore and very impressive back up in Kendall Hunter. This is the main reason for the success, the run game takes the pressure off of Smith (hence, only 2 INTs this season)

Gore has been there for years and had better rushing seasons. The niners were still a non factor.

They have showed a lot of improvement ever since Harbaugh showed up, but they still got a long way to becoming an elite team.

Lol Niners are so much more talented then kc. With a better qb they'd be much closer or an elite team. No rushing tds allowed this year ...

I've been watching Harbaugh since his days at USD (University of San Diego), jazzed up that team, and then Stanford. Wondered if he could make it in the Pros, and here we are...pretty decent so far.

Whoa, there now before we go praising the Niners ownership...

I've been a Niners fan since the days of John Brodie.

We were great when Eddie D. owned the team. Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Steve Young. The list goes on and on.

Since Eddie D. relinquished ownership, the Niners have, for most of the past 15 years, been an abject failure. I'm not nearly as inclined to think the current ownership is particularly savvy. I tend to think of it more as "a blind pig will find an acorn every once in a while."

    Agree 100%.
SF had signed some great free agents and had some great draft picks... very noticable... accumulated over the last 4 years... and they sucked.
Then Harbough comes in and got them going, even without a true quality QB.

Vernon Davis, frank gore, and Patrick Willis are at the tops of their positions. I would think top five at worst. How many teams can outdo that That is better than a lot of teams can proclaim.

It's amazing how they are 6-1 and only have played the Seahawks. They got 5 more games against the West. Being conservative and they win 3 of the 5. That's the division right there.

Realistically NYG-Balt-Seattle will be their toughest games from here on out. Thanksgiving night game is gonna turn out to be a good one. Hell even the Pack/Lion game will be decent. Finally the NFL has decent games lining up on the Holiday.

A home game for a trip to the super bowl. Mike Singletary should be saying to himself"can't do it", can't coach.

What a story. Niners were/are the real story of the 2011-2012 season, while everyone was obsessing with Tebow-mania. I mean I knew they were a "talented" team, but you can say that about almost all 32 teams really... But no, they REALLY are, they had accumulated a ton of premier talent through the draft and free agency (I mean come on, Whitner, J. Smith, A. Smith, Willis, Bowman, WOW) and somehow just could NOT put it together -- then Harbaugh steps in, and BLAMMO, NFC Championship Game at home! Oh, and Alex Smith finally somehow matures from underachiever to stone-cold crunch-time playmaker. Incredible story.
