Some TV shows say we are in WWIII. I personally think the media is jumping the gun big time and making things worse by saying we are in the midst of World War III (Just a way to make a buck which is bullshit).

What's your take, are we close to WWIII?

Any books out there listing props on WWIII yet? Things like over-under on number of North Korea missiles to actually hit a target, how long before someone like Dubya just says, "f\*\*k it, launch one with one of them rockets with a nuke-luler head on it, Rumsy," things like that

We've been in WWIII since the 'Korean conflict' as far as I see it.

With the programming hours to fill, 24 hour news stations (CNN, MSNBC and Fox News) consistently make events much larger that they really are. So, they bring in these "experts" to explain what the hell is going on and the ramifications of them. The use all the fancy graphics and simulations to hype up the story.

Are we close to WWIII? Probably not, but the situation could get alot worse if it spreads into other countries in the area. If it stays in just Israel, Lebannon and the Palestinian Territories, I think we (the world) be ok, but if Syria and Iran get involved your looking at a whole new ballgame.

Lets see. Israel attacks Lebannon and moves back into the Palestinian territory of the Gaza strip. Lebannon is basically home to Hezbollah. This is a terrorist organization that recieves somewhere in the neighborbood of 15 to 40 million dollars a month from IRAN. IRAN is a hard line islamic state, and no doubt are supporting insurgents in IRAQ. SYRIA also being a country with open borders that is supporting the insurgency as well. SYRIA is the most probable place to be protecting some of the Hussien family and former military leaders of IRAQ.
Now while this is all going down, we are still fighting a war in IRAQ. IRAN and SYRIA border IRAQ. What happens to our troops is IRAN's hardline leadership takes exception to the Israeli invasion of Lebbanon and counterattacts in Israel? Well they'll have to fly over IRAQ and since we side with Israel we would be asked to shoot down IRANIAN planes to protect Israel. This would draw in the IRANIAN armed forced into IRAQ and SYRIAN troops moving into Israel. Then what does the US do. Can't use nukes as we have too many of our own troops in the area.
That is the real start to WWIII. It hasn't happened yet but is getting very close. Remember. There has never been a religion war won. Never. It all boils down to religion and what one believes.

i don't think we are very close to an actual 3rd world war, but, with N Korea pushing everyones buttons, and now Isreal in the middle of what could be a massive Middle East meltdown, especially with the risk of Iran or Lebanon having some nuclear capabilities, i think we are closer than we have been, since the early 80's.


this could escalate in a matter of minutes.

i really don't know what to expect right now, everything seems to be toppling though, like a really ugle game of dominos.

Is certainly a concern. Honestly, I don't know how humans will make it without killing ourselves off eventually, but maybe we will have a good run of a couple thousand more years.
