the tigers, rockies, and even the NY Mets are probly the most suprising teams of the first half IMO.

the biggest disapointment team of the first half of the baseball season i feel is the cleveland Indians.

This team just came out of the gate really flat, and never recovered.

I think the Braves and the Cubs are pretty big dissapointments imo.

The Mets flat underachieved a year ago after adding Pedro and Beltran. So they are no surprise to me this year after augmenting their roster with the likes of LoDuca and Delgado.

The Brewers and Indians have both been disappointments if you look at the preseason prognostications. The Athletics have also yet to really take charge in the AL West like many thought.

For me personally, my Astros have been a huge disappointment, especially on the mound.

I would have to go with the Phillies and Braves. Yeah, Braves are due to fall off soon, but with the run they have been on this decade+, you just have to count on them.

I didnt expect the Phillies to be 7 games under .500, that lineup of thiers should be producing more then it is. Abreu needs to step it up in the second half, for this team to have a shot at the wildcard.

When will the Cubs give up on Woods and Prior. Maybe if they move on, they can put together a good season or two.

well i can tell ya the cubs would be fools to keep Wood after this season, especially with him being in a club option year. i'm sure they will pay him the 3 million to giving him his walking papers instead of paying him like the 10-14 million dollars to keep him.

Ain't that the truth? Funny thing is, a year ago Lidge was in the All-Star Game and struck out the only three batters he faced - Melvin Mora, Mike Sweeney and Garret Anderson. Man, his fortunes have changed in just 12 months (actually less than 12)

Yeah, last season it was "lights out" Lidge meaning that when he came up, he'd close the game to a finish. Now it appears to mean that once he comes on, he'll hand a win over to the opposition. At least he doesn't mess about.

And I'm not even mentioning Pettttttitttttte etc.

And I won't even mention that Clemens has had 3 decent starts and has had 2 losses and 1 ND.

I would not say the Brewers at all....it's a team that has really overachieved to be perfectly honest.

Considering they lost their ace in Ben Sheets, another starting pitcher in Toma Ohka and their promising young SS J.J. Hardy who was hitting the ball real well before the injury, inconsistent pitching from their starters except for Cappuano, and you would tell me they are 5 games out at the all-star break I would have been estactic...

Compound that with thier ability to come back in games...i really think this team has played over their heads personally.

Now that I think about it, It is definitely the Cubs, I
remember alot of people on therx were talking world series
after about 15 games into the season. Now their season
is completely done. 34-54 WOW

I don't think it's fair to call the Braves 'disappointments'. They've been doing it with mirrors for years now...
I think they're finally playing where they would be if they had a bad manager. Not to say Cox is a bad manager or is having a bad year...

That team, from top to bottom, has just been punished over the years by free agency and the like.
To top it off, they really aren't that far behind the rest of the NL for the wildcard. So - in reality - they aren't doing so bad.

To be honest, the only REAL disappointment for me this season is the NL. It's REALLY down this year (or the AL is REALLY up).

I agree that the NL is a big dissapointment as a whole.
But I desagree that the Braves havent been a dissapoitment. Most second year players have underachieved and their bullpen has been a mess.
With that kind of talent to have a record similar to the Marlins and the Nationals is just unacceptable. Not to mention they are 9 games under 500. I pick them as one of the biggest dissapointments and also as the team most likely to have a good second half.
Of course I would love to see them turn it around
