Can someone fill me in on the story of jjgold? Why does everyone love this guy?

If the rules are the same the house edge is less with 1 deck.

Live, it matters. Online, not so much

Better to have less decks as long as blackjacks still pay 3/2

To answer this question you only need ask yourself one other question.

What to casinos offer more of - single deck or multiple deck?

In the old days: Best gm in Vegas was inside Caesars Palace; single deck and all of the favorable rules except early surrender. Trouble was they had few of these tables and they were always full.

    2nd best: Binion's Horseshoe

you can actually have a .004% edge or so with basic strategy if you can find a single deck game with the best rules

Single deck if you're card counter.

5 decks if you're just having fun, looking to go up a c-note.

If you are looking to have fun and lose less money you are still better off with single deck if all other rules are the same and if you are card counting 5 decks might be better as well in some situations (for example being less likely to attract attention)...
