IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon died following a massive 15-car wreck during Sunday's Las Vegas Indy 300.
Wheldon, 33, was injured when his car got airborne after hitting another in the Lap 12 accident, then apparently caught part of the catch fence just outside of Turn

I think he's referring to the ole cliche about Racers wanting to go out doing the thing they love to do....I had the same thing happen when I was in the Air Force as I lost some of my squadron mates in an accident and people followed up with the statement of "They passed doing what they loved"....and I would always shake my head. I want to die old and not feeling a thing personally.

Every few years there's a wakeup call in auto racing....sucks..but it's one of the negatives you accept

was he the one where the car was flying or was it the hit or fire, so many

they were flying, surprised this doesn't happen more often, this track looked dangerous , announcers keep saying they were talking about it earlier

  25. #25

His car was on fire and flew into the catch fence....the drivers talked about the seriousness of putting that many cars on a 1.5 mile track...at 220 mph there isn't much room for error.

    This sport is ridiculous.
    RIP
