It's odd. We first begin and we think its the best thing in the world, then reality hits you in the face and for a lot of people it starts to control them.

They notice it and try to break free from it, but are ridiculed and mocked for saying it. I do think a lot of the people who are doing the mocking are jealous, as in they know they can't stop and are envious of someone who is attempting to stop. Comments like we'll see you next week, etc.

I myself used to be a heavy better and not a good one. I didn't make a proclamation to everyone to quit betting, but I went through the struggles of quitting. I make 4 wagers a year now. 1 football, 1 basketball, 1 college football, 1 college basketball future. I've eliminated the day to day chase you see on the forum and it actually feels great getting away from that, I consider that an unhealthy lifestyle.

Just never knew why people ragged and mocked someone trying to move on from gambling until I realized that the majority of people mocking him are envious of his ability to at least attempt to quit.

My situation it was tough. I got another job to keep me more occupied, weeks went by and I didn't even care about placing a wager. I'll do a contest, my 4 futures, and a fantasy football league, and leave it at that. Have no pleasure to return to the "daily grind" and haven't for nearly 3 years now.

Just thought I'd post this after I saw the brock thread.

Disagree, being a compulsive gambler is sitting at your computer all day desperately trying to make money. Very unhealthy, and a lot of people do it and is the tell tale sign of a addict.

I have enough restraint now, I will admit back then I didn't, to play the 4 futures and do my fantasy football league. I have that restraint now because I taught myself not to think about it like I did before.

Why do I still post on gambling forums? Gambling forum is a discussion forum. I don't believe you have to be just a gambler to post here. I do posts on other forums, like RealGM, etc. This is one of several, the only gambling one.

The main reason though why I created this thread though was why people in the past have been ridiculed and mocked for trying to break free from there problem. I still believe it has to do with the fact that the people mocking those who decide to quit are just so into it that they know they'll never get out. There was another poster ridiculed last week as well.

It's almost as if you envy the people who get out, but at the same time you want them to share there misery with you like against all odds stated.

You'll be back next week, you can't quit, your a degenerate like us. I see those threads all the time.

because there are some miserable pricks on here who have tried to quit numerous times but have failed and so they speak from experience and misery in mocking guys like brock, many of the posters here are so much more miserable in person, take someone like daggerkobe, he has never gotten laid and has never even kissed a girl, he hates his life and it comes through very clearly in his posts, just pay attention, the truth is out there
