last time I read a book was in high school "catcher in the rye"
I'm with you, only read magazines like "time" "newsweek" but that's it.
I'm pretty sure I finished Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing in under 24 hours.
On the other hand, I think it took me close to a month to get through the first chapter of Finnegans Wake. (Great airplane reading, by the way.) The next sixteen chapters? About twelve years and counting.
I read newspapers and magazines everyday, but haven't read a book since highschool.
Maybe this is why Im such a dumb azz. I havent read a book in.....well, I cant remember.I just read articles on the internet and a magazine/newspaper here and there. No books.
I usually have a book on the go most of the time, probably get through 50 or so fiction in a year, plus books I read for research purposes, and the occasional gambling book..

Four books a month I would say.
If you NEVER read books tough to get an indepth feel for any subject or interest unless you live it. But living it is good enough for most people just might limit what you do or know if you aren't exposed to in daily life.
I am always reading something whether it's a journal article or a recreational book. The only way you are going to get remotely smart is by reading....nobody ever got smart by hanging out on gaming forums or watching television. I make it a priority to read at least 1-2 hours a day or 75 pages a day...which ever happens first.
i read enough online a day where i feel like i read 20 books a day
but seriously... i mainly read mags, newspappers, and a few ebooks from time to time.
I sure hope it does.Originally Posted by mofome

I used to read a lot of books; the first thing you see when you walk into my apartment is a bunch of overflowing bookshelves; I have read entire books in one day many times. But my reading has petered right out in the last couple years.
I think it relates to my sports betting having some effect on my attention span. Whenever I start to read my brain starts saying, "Yeah but if you were over there at your computers you could be having fun AND making money."
Maybe I'll get back to reading someday. I still love to talk about books and writers.
As for Finnegan's Wake, I think I'm at about 25 years and counting.
