I use an Acer laptop as my main computer and the keyboard is always skipping keystrokes. Every single sentence I type, I have to go back and fill in the letters and spaces that I hit but just plain don't register for some reason.

It sucks.

I was talking to my ex who has an Acer laptop and she experiences the exact same effect. In my case, it is getting worse as time goes on.

I'm not even complaining so much because I am often dealing with dollar amounts, and skipping zeros could be a huge problem.

It is just fvcking day-in-and-day-out ANNOYING.

You may try cleaning the keyboard out with compressed air.

Keyboards break pretty easily. You can get new ones for peanuts though, just find the part number, and check ebay (for the keyboard separately, or with a broken laptop).

Acer manufactures the crappiest computers out of the crappiest parts. It should come with no surprise when something is working poorly.

I have an acer 2 years, it ok , we do have skips with keys at times but every computer does. I like the cleaning of the keyboard suggestion here.

I'm going to try a demonstration just for the hell of it. I'm going to type something everyone would be familiar with - and I won't do any corrections. Just so you can see what I am dealing with. (Now watch, this would be the time there are no mistakes).

Well, Mudcat, after all it is an Acer. I'm sure you saved a few bucks instead of going with a major PC like Dell, HP, etc. So it is what it is. My buddy had one with the exact same issue. He ended up throwing it against the wall out of frustration.....

You know what? I'm a boob. I've got a computer guru who has been looking after all my computers for years and I was looking for a new one and he stuck this in my face and I said, "Sure!

You're right, the price was good. I bought it new and it cost about the same as the used ones I have bought. Like $600 or something.

I have a couple spares around here anyway (a quick check reveals they are a Dell and an IBM Thinkpad if anyone wants to advise me on their relative virtues). I'm sure they're not NASA quality but I'll switch over to one shortly. The typing on this one has gotten insanely bad. I don't do anything fancy anyway.

It's a shame though This is the prettiest one.

On my 2nd Acer laptop and not really have any problems - I dont type a huge amount, so mainly it is used for downloading, surfing the internet, playing games and streaming sports/films/tv shows etc

For those purposes I cant complain at all with it whatsoever !
