Default Have the recent BETonSPORTS stiff jobs made a difference?

This is not to suggest that BoS/Millenium are done stiffing players. Any time I check the forum I am half expecting to see a new report of BoS unethically confiscating player funds. I wasn't getting any sense that BoS had learned a lesson or was concerned about negative publicity. It seemed more like BoS was just laughing at players to me.

But the most recent firestorm has died down and I am wondering: has anything changed? I don't look at other forums much but I only heard of one (Bonus Boss) actually removing their BoS banner. Are posters at other forums unhappy - is there any pressure? - or has it all blown over?

It would be great to get some reliable internal information from BoS/Millenium but I doubt that is in the cards.

For my part, something has changed. I had quite a bit of money at V-Wager which I pulled out. Now that they're part of the BoS family, I don't trust them any more. Same goes for all the former VO Group (MVP, VSI, Player-SB etc.).

I don't trust them any more.

Not that much will have changed, to be honest. Sure in forum land a few people will pull out their balances but as we all know, the forum population is only a small percentage of the actual population. In the real world people will generally deposit based on flash advertising, a nice looking website with maybe a sprinkling of titties on display. And they won't have a clue about these cases of theft.

Ever thought of going to Shill School? Graduate from there and you'll believe that BetOnSports are the second coming.

I know what you're saying - I really do - but he truth is, it was the shills that made me so convinced that BoS was just out-and-out thieving in these recent cases.

I always have a certain amount of skepticism for player complaints on a forum. Everyone has their agendas and people apply spin. A lot of times things can seem very black-and-white in one direction, but then more facts come out and everything changes.

But when there is a case like this where the initial evidence seems damning - and then the shills come along with carefully worded statements basically conceding wrong-doing - I am very comfortable calling BETonSPORTS stiffs.

The best part is that the shills all need to go back to Shill School again to learn the latest company line.

The BoS shill would repeat ad nauseum that there were thefts made in the past but now they're under new management, things are different now and there hasn't been a complaint against them in X years. After admitting to blatent theft, they can't really say that now, can they?

It made a difference in that it added to my disgustn for The Online Wire. They won't get any more views from me. Just bad publicity. It's not just that they recommend bad books, it's the way they talk. Sleazeballs.

I'd agree there. Some gaming sites have not come out of this looking very good at all.

Agree with Taco, for the players very little has changed, many players don't even know of these forums. Most that post here are aware of the thefts at least but many times they chug right along thinking it will never happen to them anyway.

As for the sites it was a good thing as more newer readers saw the ugly side to this "watchdog" business. Without mentioning names you heard site owners give their word banners were coming down if the book ended up being wrong. Later with an admittance the book was wrong (as he paid the player out of his own pocket) the banner is still up and is going nowhere. To make it worse the head mod at the same site was out shilling for that very book two days later, proudly advertising June specials for the same thieves that just stole players money a few days earlier. You call this a watchdog site??

Yes this whole incident will die out soon enough though, the places that like to beat up each other all came out with mud on their face. It was a draw. Only SBR took appropriate action and John isn't the type to keep rubbing it in other people's faces. Had EOG for instance been the site that did right we would never stop hearing about it. Only thing changed in all this was SBR suddenly got a shit load of credibility from some newer posters who may not have been aware prior to this, and deservedly so I might add.

I also agree with that. I don't have any first hand knowledge of how a forum firestorm affects a book but, if BoS's yawning reaction is any indication, the answer is not much. At least not much for a book that size.

Another good point. How often do you see a player say, XYZsports aren't a stiff book - they paid me no problem three times - as if that even starts to address the issue. But that's how a lot of players think.

I'm not glad to hear about your experiences with TOW tomcast but I hope you'll hang around at SBR.

Nice that SBR has identified the BoS shills for the benefit of everyone else on the forum.
