Default Skybook - free 1/2 point 'for football and basketball'. Sort of...

Skybook offers a free 1/2 point for football and basketball.
Until a few days ago that included the WNBA. Not anymore. I asked them why. They replied the free 1/2 point finished with the completion of the NBA season and would come back when football starts.

This isn't clarified in their offer, which is for football and basketball. Last time I checked, WNBA was still basketball. Why they would retract the offer for a couple of months, without informing members, is a mystery to me. Why go through the trouble? Why undermine your word? Unless they want to lose customers...

Calling the WNBA basketball is like calling Softball baseball.

I was watching a WNBA game the other day. I think the best WNBA team may be able to beat a poor Div 2 Men's college basketball team. That would be an awesome matchup to handicap!

So, in a roundabout way, I agree with isetcap.

Does Skybook give the free 1/2 point on all college hoops, including college women? I've never played Skybook.

If you matched up a local pick-up team from Indiana versus the WNBA All-Stars, let's just say that my money would be on the 'skins'.

OK, so if it's not basketball, then why did the give the free 1/2 point earlier on?

They should make it clear it ends with NBA finals.

Does CFL get the half ?

Books seem to arbitrarily stop their promos whenver they feel like it. Dimeplayer used to have half-juice Fridays on sides, but that must've ended with NBA season as well.

Isetcap....we know you don't care for the WNBA but do you really need to mention it so often.....I would bet each and everyone of those players in that league would destroy you in a game one on one. Call it what you will but if girls want to establish a league and play basketball that's fine with me...we just don't need your opinion on it everytime...so if you don't like it just shut the **** up would you for a minute....you are really not that much different than TGO with your WNBA rhetoric....

Anyway...the reason they do not offer a free 1/2 point is b/c WNBA lines are soft to begin with. It's still a sport that linesmakers are having a hard time getting a good hold of. With soft lines, they are already leaving themselves exposed....and consider that not many people bet on WNBA they could get severely screwed b/c "sharps" are mainly betting on it. In short, they are already in an undesirable position so they do not want to worsen it by making it easier for customers.

Skybook is weak for not providing an explanation.....seems like there are quite a few complaints about Skybook the past few months....

Wow. There goes their explanation that the 1/2 point is out of the window from the end of the NBA until the start of NFL.

They're scared of the WNBA. Scared of a few girls. lol

I don't have funds in my Skybook account right now so I wasn't able to double-check what I was told about the CFL. The guy I spoke to sounded quite authoritative.

I'm taking my money out. Want to transfer it to Cascade, but for some reason I'm not getting a signup page there. Is there a problem with their website?

Umm...maybe you missed that there was an actual question asked by Darkhorse and that Isetcap failed to answer and went on his daily diatribe against the WNBA which had absolutely no relevance to the question. It gets old....either answer the question or have something remotely relevant to say regarding the issue in question or just shut the **** up...i've noticed that Isetcap has gone from one of the most promising young posters on here to one of the most obnoxious in a matter of weeks.

    Man, speaking of obnoxious...

Have you stopped taking your medication again?

In case you didn't notice, in my first post I was responding to the question at hand when I mentioned that women's basketball (WNBA) is essentially like women's baseball (Softball) in that in each comparison they may be using similar rules but there are some very significant differences, which might be the reason why Skybook does not offer the half-point.

In my second post, I was directly responding to the post that Slacker provided us with. I thought that was how things worked in here. Fortunately I have the BB Police to set me straight.

Either way, my remotely relevant opinions are certainly more relevant than your "daily diatribe" against me which has absolutely nothing to do with the question DH was posing.

Perhaps you should listen to your own advice and remain on topic.

    Nice hat.

Can you provide some meaningful conceptual differences Isetcap as to how WNBA is not really basketball since it seems to me that the only "basketball" that you are willing to call "basketball" is that played at the men's professional and college level?

Oh and would you consider wheelchair basketball "basketball" or is it not "basketball." It stands to reason that this is not a form of basketball either...

I don't think I ever mentioned that the members of the WNBA weren't playing basketball. I was pointing out that the game has been tweaked in such a way to accomodate the skill sets of the individuals for whom the league was created. These accomodations do in fact make the product different which is why it is known more accurately as women's basketball in the same way that women's baseball is known as softball. Perhaps women's basketball will eventually be called smallketball.

I have no comment on wheelchair basketball as I have never watched nor experienced it.

In light of your other comments, you are probably right in that I should just let it go as my crusade IS probably a bit tiring to others, therefore I shall.

I guess you are a world class degenerate gambler if you bet on women's wheelchair basketball. The free half would probably be rather valuable as I'd think the scores would be lower than other forms of hoops with the lack of layups.

Skybook (SBR rating A-) Group consolidates properties
Five days after absorbing sister sportsbook, IIS (SBR rating A-), the group has taken Rio (SBR rating A-) and ClickAndBet (SBR rating B) off-line. All accounts will be moved to Skybook.com. Ownership has planned to focus the company on its flagship, and now only brand, for over a year. Skybook will have an affiliation with new sportsbook, BetMania (not rated), which will be managed and operated externally.
