PITT is at home to Columbus. I was just listening to an interview with Columbus President/GM Doug McLean and apparently they are still being devastated by a flu-like virus which has affected some 30 people on the team (that's not just players; it also includes some training staff).

I'm not calling this a lock or a GOY or anything. Columbus actually played fairly well in their last game where they could only dress 16 skaters, losing 3-2 at Chicago (in regulation). Also Pittsburgh has yet to win a game in the pre-season.

I just feel that it's worth a shot under these circumstances at close to even money.

It's so hard to say. They have some new faces with big reputations - but it's hard to say how much some of the older guys will have gone downhill from the year off. Pitt should be pushing a little harder for pre-season wins than most teams. They've been doing a serious ticket drive based around 1st overall pick Sidney Crosby - but that's just theoretical and it hasn't translated into any wins so far.

I'm more just looking at Columbus on their 3rd consecutive road game (1st two were losses in regulation), probably even more worn down from this virus that has swept the dressing room.
