i never handicap the game.. i just handicap the line.

doesn't matter who's playing who and whose record is what at home or on road..etc.. the line is already applied..

if an NBA line closes at -6... you better make sure you bet the fav at -5 or the dog at +7, either one will do.. or you will eventually go broke.

my 3 betting strategies..

1- play off numbers
2- play off numbers
3- play off numbers..

oh i forgot another one..

4- play off numbers.

I still use computer programs to help lead me in the direction of a good bet. This system is not always accurate but has been profitable. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share some insight on "capping" games as I am sure there is plenty to be learned that I do not know. If you are interested in sharing some REAL insight and helping me better my capping abilities PLEASE pm me and we will carry on our conversation as to what I do and what I should do!! b/c they lose 90% of the time, or has been my experience.

I think Nicky's got the best advice on this matter. if you can get a better number than what the line closes at than in the long term you should have a better chance of profiting. at leas thats the way I see it.

For NCAAB:

I use the log5 and pythagorean formulas to find teams where the probability they will win is > 50% and the linesmakers are giving them points (they are a dog). I then bet that team on the moneyline and 2X on the spread. This strategy is hitting > 50% this year for dogs. It works very well for dogs that are getting between 1 and 8 points. But the big dogs hit often enough that it is worth doing.

I also play favorites if I think the spread is way off. But the dogs are doing so much better I could drop the favorites and it wouldn't matter much.
