Default What was Josh Howard thinking?

He called Dallas' final timeout before Wade shot his second free throw. That mistake basicly cost the Mavericks the game.

actually it was the terrible call that put Wade on the line with 1.8 seconds to play that cost them the game.

Stupid move, but no guarantee Dallas would have scored with 1.9 seconds left. They would have taken a long 3-pointer after the inbounds, and a Miami played could have kneed the shooter in the rocks and they wouldn't call a foul.

It was similar to the Cris Webber , Michigan timeout.

I'm dumbfounded on that call. I really thought they would let them play in that spot. Wade dribbles himself into trouble and they bail him out. If you watch Wade's bank shot at the end of regulation with 2.9 left, there was way more contact with no call. He got bumped on the drive, then bumped when Griffin fell backwards.

It's really a shame they have stolen this title from Dallas. I'm not even a Mavs fan and it's sickening to see what the NBA has become.

Is anyone else outraged at what this league has become?

I was thinking the same thing. This might go down as one of the biggest NBA blunders ever.

Did you guys see Avery Johnson's post game press conference? He was trying to bait the reporter into saying the Wade foul was bs. They were both playing dumb with each other.

No way. The game was tied. If Wade misses the FT does it go down as one of the all time great "ICE the shooter" timeouts similiar to a field goal kicker.

I don't think so. It's memorable either way but it wasn't game 7.

I must be watching a different series than the rest of you. It seems like the home teams are simply more aggressive going to the basket hence the home teams are getting the calls. You don't get fouled taking jump shots like Dallas does most of the time.

Dallas was plenty aggressive going to the hoop last night and did not get calls whereas Miami and Wade got the whistle every time a Maverick breathed on him. Regardless, everybody knew coming into this series that Dallas would have to beat not only the Heat, but also Stern and the refs.

And let's not forget Howard's hamstring was hurt, so that might be why his effectiveness down the stretch hurt them. I don't have the +/- numbers from the game, but I had no confidence in the Mavs whenever Devin Harris was on the court last night, blew 3 or 4 layups and for the most part was getting killed by Wade. Still, I enjoyed the game with the +2 and the over, lol.

Was it Howard who came up empty at the line a few plays before? I doubt he slept much last night.

How about Dirk kicking the equipment on his way back to the lockerroom? If I was Avery, I'd have him giving me push-ups.

Yup, he was 9 for 9 from the line before bricking those two crucial free throws. Dirk also missed a key FT in regulation.
